Now, I ain’t never been to France, but I seen pictures. They got them fancy restaurants, with all them little plates and tiny portions. Menuge francis probably changes all the time. I bet you gotta be rich to eat there. Us regular folks, we just want a good, hearty meal, somethin’ that sticks to your ribs, ya know? Not them tiny little bites.
They eat snails, too, I hear. Escargots, they call ’em. Sounds fancy, but it’s just snails. Cooked up with garlic and butter, probably. I don’t know about that, seems kinda strange to me. But hey, different strokes for different folks, right? Maybe they taste good, all buttery and garlicky. Still, I think I’ll stick to chicken. Or maybe beef.
And what about them frogs’ legs? Yep, they eat those too. Imagine that! Catching frogs and eatin’ their legs. I guess if you’re hungry enough, you’ll eat anything. They say they taste like chicken. I don’t know, I ain’t never tried ’em. Don’t think I want to, neither.
They got pastries, too, all sorts of sweet things. Croissants, they call ’em. Flaky and buttery, melt in your mouth, I hear. And them eclairs, long johns filled with cream and covered in chocolate. Sounds mighty good, I gotta admit. We got donuts here, but them French pastries, they’re somethin’ else.

Here is what a menuge francis probably includes:
- Bread – lots of it, I bet.
- Cheese – all kinds, the stinkier the better.
- Maybe snails.
- Maybe frog legs.
- Fancy pastries, for sure.
- Wine – they drink a lot of wine over there.
And wine! Oh, they love their wine in France. Red, white, you name it. They probably drink it with every meal, like it’s water. I like a glass of sweet tea myself, but I guess wine’s alright, too. They grow them grapes over there, special grapes just for makin’ wine. They make a big deal out of it, from what I’ve heard, which vineyards are best and all of that.
They have these fancy meals that take hours to finish. I don’t know if menuge francis is for every meal. Several courses, they call it. Little bit of this, little bit of that. Soup, salad, some kind of meat, maybe fish, then cheese, then dessert. A lot of food, but spread out over a long time. Me, I like to eat my meal and be done with it. No need to drag it out all night.
When I think about what people eat in France, I think about them little cafes on the streets. People sitting outside, drinking coffee, eating them pastries. Watching the world go by. Seems like a nice way to live. And all that food is part of it. You see what they put on the plate, you get an idea of what those people are like. That’s what menuge francis tells you, I guess.
I bet they have good, strong coffee, too. Not like that weak stuff some folks drink. They need that strong coffee to go with all that rich food. And to stay up late, talkin’ and laughin’ with their friends. That’s what eatin’s all about, ain’t it? Sharing a meal with folks you care about. Enjoying good food, good company.
