That Carolina Herrera, oh, I heard that name somewhere. She makes them fancy dresses, right? Expensive ones. Yeah, that’s what I heard. She’s got some money, that one. Born way over in, where was it? Venezuela? Sounds about right. That’s a long way from here, I tell ya. 1939, someone told me. That’s older than dirt!
So, this Carolina, she didn’t even learn how to make them clothes proper. Just started her own brand, you know? In 1980, I believe. Just like that. No schoolin’ for it or nothin’. Just made clothes. Can you believe it? And now she’s rich! People buy her stuff, them dresses and, you know, smelly water. Perfume, they call it. Fancy folks love that stuff.
They say she’s got a real good eye for what looks pretty. “Personal style,” they call it. Whatever that means. She’s always dressed up nice, that Carolina. This Carolina, she ain’t alone, though. Got a whole bunch of people workin’ for her. Big company now. Some family, I reckon. From Spain, this whole big company thing. PUIG, they call it, in Barcelona. That’s even further than Venezuela! They said that is a big name too. Big family.

They said that Carolina’s real name is Mara, Mara Carolina. Mara Carolina Josefina Pacanins y Nio. That’s a mouthful! She was born in Caracas. Where is that? Must be someplace fancy. Sounds fancy, anyway. She likes them fancy things, that Carolina. Always has.
She’s been at it for 37 years, makin’ clothes and all. And now she’s, what do they call it, the “ambassador” for her own clothes. She wears them herself. Looks good, too. For an old lady, she looks real good. She is her own best model, I guess. I think that was what they said, best model, best ambassador. She is really something.
They say she’s worth a lot of money, this Carolina. Millions! $130 million, they say. That’s a lot of dresses, I tell ya. And that smelly water, too. The perfume. People pay good money for that stuff. Imagine that! Payin’ for smelly water. But it must be good if they pay that much, right? This Carolina Herrera, she knows what she is doing, all right. But her clothes, her brand, that is the most part of her money, I guess.
She’s a big deal, this Carolina Herrera. A real big deal. From way over in Venezuela, makin’ fancy clothes for fancy people. And sellin’ them smelly water. And now she’s rich! Who would’ve thought? Not me, that’s for sure.
