So, I had this idea to customize a pair of Nike shoes, and I really wanted to go with a purple and yellow color scheme. You know, something bold and eye-catching.

Finding the Right Shoes

First things first, I needed a blank canvas. I headed to the Nike store and browsed through their selection. I was looking for a pair that had a good amount of white space, something I could easily paint on. Eventually, I settled on a pair of Air Force 1s. Classic, clean, and perfect for customizing.

Gathering Supplies

Next up, I needed to gather my supplies. I already had some acrylic paints at home, but I picked up a few extra shades of purple and yellow, just to be sure I had the right tones. I also grabbed:

  • Paintbrushes: A variety of sizes for different details.
  • Masking tape: To protect areas I didn’t want to paint.
  • Sealer: To protect the paint job and make it last.
  • Pencil: drawing the design before paint.

Prepping the Shoes

Before I started painting, I needed to prep the shoes. I carefully taped off the soles and any other parts I wanted to keep white. This part took some patience, but it’s important to get it right, made some mistakes!

Painting Process

Now for the fun part! I started by sketching out a rough design on the shoes with a pencil. I’m not the best artist, so I wanted something fairly simple. Then I started applying the paint, building up the colors layer by layer. I found that it was better to do multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat. It takes longer, but the finish is much smoother.

I mainly painted the purple area first, let it dry, and then continue the yellow parts.

The Final Touches

Once the paint was completely dry, I carefully removed the masking tape. There were a few tiny spots where the paint had bled through, but I was able to touch those up with a small brush and some white paint. Finally, I applied a couple of coats of sealer to protect the paint and give it a nice, finished look.

And that’s it! My custom purple and yellow Nike shoes were done. I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out. It was a fun project, and now I have a unique pair of kicks that I can truly call my own.
