Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this fella, Tyler, the Creator, and his album, “Goblin.” Folks keep askin’, “does tyler the creator like goblin?” I ain’t no fancy music critic, ya hear? But I listened to it, and I’ll tell ya what I think, plain and simple.

Now, this “Goblin” thing, it ain’t no happy-go-lucky tune, that’s for sure. It’s dark, real dark. Like a cloudy day that just won’t quit. This boy, Tyler, he’s yellin’ and rappin’ ’bout all sorts of troubles. Sounds like he’s got a whole heap of anger inside him, like a pot boilin’ over on the stove.
- He’s talkin’ ’bout feelin’ abandoned, like a lost calf in the woods.
- He’s yellin’ ’bout suicide, which ain’t nothin’ to take lightly, mind you.
- And there’s this rage, just burnin’ through the whole thing. Like a wildfire, it is.
Some folks say it’s like he’s talkin’ to a therapist, you know, one of them head doctors. Says this “Goblin” is like his second visit. First one was somethin’ called “Bastard,” and he’s got another one comin’, “Wolf,” they say. Sounds like this boy’s got a lot on his mind.
He was just a young’un when he made this “Goblin,” barely out of his teens. Nineteen, they say. Imagine that! Just a kid, singin’ ’bout all this heavy stuff. It’s like he’s got an old soul, seen too much too soon. Reminds me of them old cowboys, always ridin’ alone, carryin’ their burdens.
Now, I heard tell there’s these “goblins” in some faraway land, France, I think it was. Been there for ages, they say. Little creatures, maybe mischievous, maybe somethin’ more. I don’t know much about that, but it makes ya wonder if that’s what this boy, Tyler, was thinkin’ about. Maybe he felt like one of them goblins, all alone and misunderstood.
This “Goblin” album, it ain’t for the faint of heart. It’s raw, like a fresh wound. He ain’t tryin’ to sugarcoat nothin’, that’s for sure. He’s just spillin’ his guts, lettin’ it all out. And that takes guts, ya know? Even if it ain’t pretty, it’s real. It’s his truth, and he ain’t afraid to share it, even if it makes folks uncomfortable.

So, does Tyler, the Creator, like “Goblin”? Well, that’s a question only he can answer for sure. But I reckon he does, in a way. It’s like lookin’ at an old picture of yourself, maybe one you don’t like so much, but it’s part of your story. It’s who you were, and it helped make you who you are today. “Goblin” is a piece of him, a part of his journey. And even if it’s dark and messy, it’s still his.
I ain’t sayin’ I understand it all, mind you. This ain’t the kind of music I grew up with. But I can appreciate the honesty, the rawness of it. He’s not tryin’ to be someone he’s not. He’s just bein’ himself, and that’s somethin’ to be respected, even if you don’t like the way it sounds. This “Goblin,” it stirred somethin’ up in me, made me think ’bout things I don’t usually think about. And maybe that’s the point, ya know? Maybe that’s what music is supposed to do.
And let me tell you something else, this Tyler, the Creator fellow, he’s got folks talkin’. Been talkin’ since this “Goblin” came out, and they still talkin’ now. That tells ya somethin’, doesn’t it? Means he struck a nerve, got people thinkin’. Whether they love it or hate it, they can’t ignore it. And that, in my book, means he did somethin’ right.
It ain’t always easy listenin’, mind you. Some of them words, they make your ears burn. But like I said, it’s real. It’s his story, and he’s tellin’ it his way. And ain’t that what we all doin’ in this life, tryin’ to make sense of things, tryin’ to find our way? Tyler, the Creator, he’s just doin’ it out loud, for the whole world to hear. And that takes a special kind of courage, I reckon.
So, there you have it. That’s my take on this “Goblin” business. Like it or not, it’s a piece of art, a piece of this boy Tyler’s soul. And it’s somethin’ that’ll stick with ya, long after the music stops.
