Should nails and toes match in 2023? Lets explore the fashion rules.

Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about this whole matching nails and toes thing. Like, is it a must-do? Does it look weird if they don’t match? I decided to put it to the test myself and see what works best.

Should nails and toes match in 2023? Lets explore the fashion rules.

First off, I went through my nail polish collection and picked out some colors. I figured I’d try a few different combos to get a good idea. I grabbed some classic reds, some bright pinks and oranges, and even a few pastels like lavender and light green, because I read somewhere they’re in this year.

I started with a classic red on my fingers. A real bright, look-at-me red. Then on my toes, I went with a similar, but not exactly the same, shade. I used to think that matching them perfectly would be best, but this test was starting to change my mind.

I did my nails and toes, went about my week, and paid attention to how it looked with different outfits. Honestly, the slightly different shades looked pretty good! I did a bit more digging on the internet and learned that matching the shades to your skin tone can actually make a big difference. Neat trick, right?

Experimenting with Colors

  • Round 1: Bright red on fingers, slightly deeper red on toes. Result: Not bad, not bad at all! It gave a nice cohesive look without being too matchy-matchy.
  • Round 2: Neon yellow on my toes – because why not? It’s summer, gotta be bold! Paired that with a nude-ish color on my fingers. Surprisingly, it worked. The contrast was fun.
  • Round 3: This time, I tried a pale pink on my fingers and a soft lavender on my toes. Very gentle, very spring-like. It was a nice subtle look that I think would work any time of year.

I even tried doing that “lip gloss nails” thing I saw online. Super shiny, almost clear polish on my fingers, then a pop of orange on my toes. It was pretty subtle but had a nice clean vibe. It made my hands look kinda elegant, not gonna lie.

So, after all this experimenting, what’s the verdict? Do your nails and toes have to match in 2023? Nah, not really. It’s all about what you like and what you think looks good. Sure, matching can be nice and polished, but mixing it up can be just as stylish. The important thing is to pick colors that you love and that make you feel good. And maybe consider your skin tone, that seems to help a lot.

Honestly, this whole thing was way more fun than I expected. I discovered some new favorite color combos and learned that it’s okay to break the “rules” sometimes. So, go ahead, play around with your nail polish, and don’t be afraid to try something new! Who knows, you might just stumble upon your new signature look.
