That Ryan Gosling, he sure is a fancy boy. I seen him on the TV, all dressed up nice. He’s in them movies, you know. And he wears them Rolex watches. Shiny things, they are. Cost more than my old cow, Bessie, I reckon.
He was wearin’ one of them Rolex watches at some big party. Golden Globes, they called it. He won somethin’ for that La La Land movie. My granddaughter, she loves that one. Lots of singin’ and dancin’. But that Rolex, that’s what caught my eye. Bling, bling, you know. Big as a horse’s eye, and twice as shiny.
They say that Rolex, it’s a Daytona. Sounds like a race car, don’t it? Fast and expensive. Just like that Ryan Gosling, I guess. He’s always movin’, always doin’ somethin’. Never seen a man wear a watch like that ’round here. We just got them Timex ones from the general store. They tell the time, that’s all we need.

Now, I heard he also got some other watch, not a Rolex. A Tag… something. Tag Heuer, yeah, that’s it. Carrera is the name, a different one but still all shiny and showy. He wears that one when he ain’t all dressed up for them award things. He wore it on the red carpet, I heard them folks say it on TV. Imagine that! A watch just for walkin’ around. My, oh my.
That Rolex, though. That Daytona. It’s the one everyone talks about. The one that costs a fortune. More than a car, I bet. More than my whole house, probably! But hey, if you’re Ryan Gosling, you can afford it. He’s got more money than Carter’s got little liver pills. He can buy as many watches as he wants, that boy.
I seen a picture of that Rolex Daytona up close. It’s got all them little dials and buttons. Complicated, like one of them newfangled tractors. I wouldn’t know what to do with all them things. Just need to know what time it is, that’s all. But that Ryan Gosling, he probably knows. Smart fella, I suppose. Gotta be to wear a watch like that.
