Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… uh… this fancy smell-good stuff. The young folks call it “ysl y edp 2 oz,” whatever that means. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me, but hey, if it makes a man smell nice, who am I to complain?
So, I hear tell there’s a bunch of different kinds. Like, more than one? Land sakes, back in my day, soap and water was enough. But these city fellas, they like their fancy smells. They got this “Bleu Electrique,” and another one they call “Eau Electrique.” Sounds like somethin’ you put in your car, not on your skin, but what do I know?
Then there’s this “edt.” Just three little letters. Makes you wonder what they’re hidin’, right? They say this one, and the other “Eau de Toilette,” are good for every day. Every day! Can you imagine? Pourin’ that fancy stuff on yourself every single day? Must cost a fortune.
Now, this one they call “Y L’Elixir,” that one’s supposed to be strong. Real strong. They say you put it on your neck, your… uh… “neckline,” and your wrist. And it lasts all day long. Twelve hours, they say! Twelve hours of smellin’ good. That’s a long time, let me tell you. Longer than it takes to make a good pot of stew, that’s for sure.
Why these smells so important?
I don’t get it myself. But the young folks, they say it makes them feel… “confident.” Like they can do anything. And “sophisticated.” Like they know somethin’ you don’t. And this “Y L’Elixir” one, they say it gives you “adrenaline.” Like you just wrestled a bear or somethin’. Hmph.
- Smell good for everyday: They got one they call “Y Eau de Toilette,” good for every day. Smells nice, not too strong.
- Smell strong all day: If you want somethin’ that lasts a long time, go for that “Y L’Elixir.” Smells real strong. Good for fancy occasions, I guess.
- Lots of different smells: They got all kinds of these smells. “Bleu Electrique,” “Eau Electrique,” the “edt,” and the “Y L’Elixir.” Too many for an old woman like me to keep track of.
This Lenny Kravitz fella, they say he likes the “Y Eau de Toilette.” Don’t know him from Adam, but he must be somebody important if they’re talkin’ about him. He’s on TV, I reckon. Always wearin’ fancy clothes and smilin’.
And then there’s this other one. “Yves Saint Laurent Y” they call it. A “cologne” for men. This one smells like… well, they say “woody” and “earthy.” Like trees and dirt, I guess. Makes a man smell like he’s been workin’ in the fields all day, but in a good way, if you can believe it. They say it’s got somethin’ called “bergamot” in it. Sounds like a fancy fruit or somethin’. Probably tastes better than it smells.
How to pick a good smell?
Well, I reckon it’s all about what you like. If you want somethin’ light and fresh, go for the “Eau de Toilette.” If you want somethin’ strong and long-lastin’, go for the “Y L’Elixir.” And if you want somethin’ that smells like the outdoors, go for that “Yves Saint Laurent Y Cologne.” But honestly, just wash good and put on clean clothes. That’s all you really need.
But hey, if it makes you happy to smell like a tree or a fancy drink, go for it. Just don’t go overboard. Nobody wants to smell you from a mile away. And for goodness sake, don’t forget to take a bath every now and again!
What’s the big deal, anyways?
Folks are always lookin’ for somethin’ to make them feel better, I guess. Maybe smelling good helps them feel… like they got it all together. Or maybe they just want to impress the ladies. Or the fellas. Who knows? Like I said, back in my day, a good bar of soap was enough. But times change, I reckon. And maybe smelling good is just part of it now.
But you know what smells good to me? Fresh-baked bread. Rain on dry dirt. Honeysuckle in the summertime. Those are smells that make me feel happy. These fancy perfumes… well, they just smell expensive to me.
