Where to Get Flo Jo Nails Done: Best Salons Guide

Okay, so, I’ve always been fascinated by Flo-Jo, not just her speed but also her style, especially those nails! I mean, who could forget those super long, decorated nails she rocked on the track? I decided it was time to try something similar, but maybe not quite as long, you know, for practicality’s sake.

Where to Get Flo Jo Nails Done: Best Salons Guide

First things first, I had to find a good nail salon. I mean this was inspired by a celebrity. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just going to some random place, I don’t know much about nail salons. I remembered a nail salon in the Bronx, mentioned in the news a while back because of some trouble or something, but it was run by this lady who does nails for Cardi B. I figured, if it’s good enough for Cardi B, it might be a good start. But, honestly, it was a bit out of my way, and I felt like trying something closer to home first.

I did some digging online, looking for places with good reviews, and there’s this spot called “Flo-Jo Nails” that kept popping up. Seemed like fate, right? It’s supposed to be inspired by the same track star. So I booked an appointment. I don’t have much experience with salons, so I felt kinda nervous.

The Experience:

  • Choosing the Design: When I got there, the nail tech and I chatted about what I wanted. I showed her some pictures of Flo-Jo’s nails, and we talked about adapting the look. I definitely wanted something bright and bold, but maybe not six inches long! We decided to do some nail art inspired by those pictures. I learned that acrylic nails are good for adding length and changing the shape, which was exactly what I wanted to do.
  • Getting Them Done: The nail tech started by prepping my natural nails. Then she applied the acrylic, shaping them into a longer, more dramatic style. She was really skilled, it was pretty cool to watch. We decided on a few colors. She had a lot of experience and knew what colors would be better.
  • Adding the Art: Once the acrylics were set, it was time for the fun part – the nail art! We used a bunch of different colors and some tiny embellishments. It was a long process, but the nail tech was patient and precise.
  • The Final Touch: At the end, she applied a shiny top coat to make them extra glossy. She called it a “top coat” or something like that. It was just a clear, shiny layer on top.

It took a while, but in the end, I had these amazing, Flo-Jo-inspired nails! They’re not exactly like hers, but they capture the spirit, I think. They’re bright, they’re bold, and they definitely make a statement. I feel like I can run a little faster with these on, haha! Just kidding, but they do make me feel more confident.

Overall:

It was a really cool experience, and I’m glad I finally did it. These nails remind me of an icon, and they’re just super fun to wear. I’m not sure I’ll keep them up all the time, but it’s definitely something I’d do again for a special occasion or just when I want to feel a little extra fabulous. Maybe next time I will have the courage to go to that salon in the Bronx, but for now, I’m super happy with how these turned out!
