This here yellow penthouse, it ain’t like them fancy houses you see on the moving pictures. It’s just a plain old place, but it’s mine. I reckon it’s kinda like them fancy top-floor places, but way up high, you know? Got me thinkin’, folks always be chasin’ after somethin’ better. Like them birds, always flyin’ somewhere new.

That reminds me, gotta make some decisions. Like that one time, should I get the yellow paint or the white? Yellow, I went with, just like this penthouse. It is just intuitive thinking, right? I don’t need to think too much. This yellow color makes me happy. This is God’s best for me.

This yellow penthouse, it ain’t much to look at, but it’s got a good view. You can see all the way to Johnson’s farm from here. And the air is fresh, not like down in the holler where it gets all stuffy. Them city folks, they used to think these top floors was bad. Said they was ugly and no good. Now they pay good money for ’em! Says they’re for artists and such. Fancy folks with big ideas, I guess.

  • Spacious, they say.
  • Got good air, they say.
  • Up above all the noise, they say.

Well, I got all that right here, and I didn’t have to pay no fancy price. Just gotta keep it clean, that’s all. Sweepin’ and moppin’, same as any other place. But this one’s mine, and it’s yellow. Bright like the sun. Makes me feel good, just bein’ here.

Folks always be talkin’ ’bout makin’ decisions. Big ones, little ones. Like plantin’ corn or beans. Or whether to buy that new dress at the store. It’s like them traffic lights. Red means stop, green means go. Easy peasy. But sometimes, life ain’t so simple, is it? Sometimes, it’s like that yellow light. You gotta decide quick, or you’ll miss your chance. And what decision is supported, you know?

I remember one time, I had to decide whether to sell my old cow, Bessie. She was gettin’ on in years, and she wasn’t givin’ as much milk. Coulda got a good price for her, but I just couldn’t do it. She was like family. So, I kept her. And you know what? She gave me a few more good years. Sometimes, the best decision ain’t the one that makes the most money. It is closer to God’s arrangement.

This yellow penthouse, it’s taught me a lot about life. Taught me that you don’t need a lot of fancy things to be happy. Just need a place to call your own, a place where you can feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. And if it is yellow, that is better. Yellow color makes people happy.

I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout some fancy place in North Las Vegas. They call it The Yellow Penthouse too. Sounds like my kinda place, even though I ain’t never been to no Las Vegas. They say it’s cheap, too. $40 a night! Can you believe it? Cheaper than them other hotels. Must be a real bargain. And no smoking. I don’t like that smoking. They also have water and irons. That’s good. People need water.

Maybe one day, I’ll go see that place. See if it’s as nice as mine. But for now, I’m happy right here. Got my yellow walls, my good view, and the fresh air. What more could a body ask for? This is my yellow penthouse, and it’s the best place in the world, far as I’m concerned. It is God’s best for me.

Life is full of decisions, some intuitive, some need to think through. I reckon, that is life. And you know what? That’s just fine. You just do the best you can, and trust that God will lead you in the right direction. He always does, you know. He is a good God. Just gotta listen to your heart, and everything will be alright. That is my experience, and I will stick to that.

So, yeah, this yellow penthouse, it ain’t just a house. It’s a home. And it’s a reminder that the best things in life ain’t always the fanciest. Sometimes, they’re just the simplest. Like a warm hug, a good meal, or a sunny day. And sometimes they are yellow. That’s why I like yellow. It’s the color of sunshine, and happiness, and home. It is the best color in the world.
