This Olivier Bernhard, he sure sounds like a big shot, huh? I heard he used to run and jump and what not. Now he’s all about them running shoes. Fancy that!

Back in my day, we just ran barefoot. Or maybe with some old rags tied around our feet if it was real cold. But these days, it’s all about them special shoes. And this Olivier, he’s the man behind them, or so they say.
Running on Clouds
They say his shoes make you feel like you’re running on clouds. Well, I ain’t never run on no cloud, but I reckon it must feel pretty good. My old bones sure could use some of that cloud feeling these days. This old lady’s knees ain’t what they used to be, you know?
This Olivier, he was a big-time runner, they tell me. Won all sorts of races and such. Must be nice to have all that energy. Me? I’m more of a sitting-on-the-porch-watching-the-world-go-by kind of gal these days. But I can appreciate a good run, I suppose.
- He started his shoe thing in 2010, I hear. That ain’t too long ago, is it? Time sure does fly.
- He got some friends to help him, this David and Caspar fellas. Good to have friends, I always say.
- They call the shoes “On”. Short and sweet, I guess. Easy to remember, even for an old lady like me.
This Olivier Bernhard, he was sponsored by Nike, you know, that big shoe company. Everyone’s heard of Nike, those big shoes that cost more than a week’s groceries. And then someone called him up, ask for his shoes. He must have given him an old pair, I imagine. Can’t just give away your good shoes, can you?
From Running to Shoes
So this Olivier, he got to thinking about shoes, I guess. And he decided to make his own. Probably thought he could do it better than them big companies. And maybe he did. I ain’t tried them on myself, but they sure do sound fancy.
He was living in them Swiss Alps, they say. I ain’t never been, but I seen pictures. Lots of mountains and snow. Must be cold up there. Good place to test out running shoes, I reckon. If they can handle them mountains, they can handle anything.
They say he was a kid once, this Olivier. Well, we all were, weren’t we? Kids these days, they got it easy. All them fancy toys and gadgets. We just had sticks and stones, and we were happy with it. Different times, I guess.
Making it Big
Well, this Olivier, he did alright for himself. His shoes are all over the place now. Even folks here in my little town are wearing them. Guess he knew what he was doing. It’s all about problem solving, I suppose. He saw a problem, people needed better shoes, and he made them.
I heard Nike sold a whole heap of shoes. Like, a mountain of them. This fella used to be with Nike, that’s something, ain’t it? Lots of money in them shoes. More money than I’ll ever see, that’s for sure.
This other fella, Adolf, he was making shoes way back when, even before my time. They was a long time ago. Him and his brother, they teamed up. Called it Gebruder something. Sounds German to me. Don’t know much about that, but I know they made shoes.
But this Olivier Bernhard, he started from scratch, they say. Just him and his buddies. And now they’re selling shoes all over the world. It’s a real success story, ain’t it? Good for him, I say.
This all started in Zurich, if you can believe it. Don’t know where that is, never been, never will go there. It is what it is.
Shoes, Shoes, and More Shoes
They say this Olivier, he’s a duathlon champion. Don’t even know what that is, but it sounds tiring. Lots of running and biking, I imagine. More power to him. I’m happy just to sit here and watch the birds.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about this Olivier Bernhard fella. He’s a shoe man now, that’s for sure. And his shoes are all the rage. Maybe I’ll try a pair one of these days. If they really do make you feel like you’re running on clouds, it might be worth it. These old bones could use a little bit of heaven, I tell ya.
But then again, maybe I’ll just stick to my old slippers. They might not be fancy, but they’re comfortable. And that’s all that matters when you get to be my age. Comfort over everything, that’s what I always say. This Olivier fella sure made it big, from running to shoes, he knows his business, that is a fact.
