How to Make Up With a Friend? (Simple Steps to Say Sorry)

Okay, so, I had this huge fight with my best friend last week. It was bad, you know? We said some things, things got heated, and then… silence. We didn’t talk for days, and it was killing me. I felt really bad and missed her so much. So I decided, I gotta fix this.

How to Make Up With a Friend? (Simple Steps to Say Sorry)

First thing I did, I tried to cool down. Remembered all the good times, how much she means to me. It helped me see past the anger and hurt. Then I thought, “What the hell was the fight even about?” Seriously, sometimes we fight over the dumbest things. Thinking about it, I realized I was kinda wrong too, not just her. That was a tough pill to swallow, but it was important.

Next up, I reached out. Sent her a text, just a simple “Hey, can we talk?” I didn’t want to start another fight, just wanted to, like, open a door. She replied, and we agreed to meet up. We met at our usual coffee place, the one with the comfy chairs. I remember I ordered my usual coffee, but I didn’t drink.

  • I started by saying sorry.
  • I told her I was a jerk, that I messed up.
  • No excuses, just a straight-up apology.

Accept my fault

It wasn’t easy, but I told her how much I valued our friendship. I talked about how I felt, how the fight made me realize how important she is to me. It was all very emotional, I even teared up a bit, not gonna lie. Then I did something I hadn’t done before – I listened. Like, really listened. She talked about how she felt, her side of the story. I just listened, didn’t interrupt, didn’t try to defend myself. And I realized, she was hurting too, maybe even more than me.

After all that, we talked about how to move forward. We promised each other to communicate better, to not let things get so out of hand again. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. We hugged, made plans to hang out, and just like that, we were back. It felt so good, like coming home after a long trip. This whole thing taught me a lot about friendship, about apologizing, about listening. It’s tough, but so worth it in the end.

So, yeah, that’s how I made up with my friend. It was a rough ride, but we came out stronger. And I’m just so glad to have my best friend back.
