Why I Tried Adriana Lima’s 2000s Hair
So yesterday I stumbled on old Adriana Lima pics from her Victoria’s Secret days. That messy-sexy wavy hair she always had? Totally iconic. Figured why not try recreating it since my hair’s kinda similar length to hers back then. Grabbed my sister’s bathroom stuff and just went for it.
What I Used
- Some cheap sea salt spray from my bathroom cabinet
- Regular hair ties everyone has
- Two big-ass claw clips I stole from my mom
- That same old heat protectant spray since 2020
- My crusty curling wand with missing temperature buttons
Step one: Didn’t wash my hair for two days on purpose. Lima’s stylist interviews said day-old hair holds better. Sprayed that sea salt junk everywhere while hair was damp, scrunching like I was making dough. Smelled like ocean butt but whatever.
Step two: Split hair down the middle like she always did. Made two pigtails real high near my temples – not tight though, loose enough to fit two fingers. Twisted each tail and clipped ’em up with those giant claws. Looked insane, like weird space buns.
Worst part: Waiting 45 freaking minutes for it to air dry. Scrolled TikTok till my arm went numb. Could’ve used a dryer but tutorials said air drying gives that messy texture.
The Messy Curl Attempt
Step three: Took down the clips when hair felt kinda crusty. Sprayed more heat protectant – that stuff makes hair feel like plastic wrap. Divided hair into like seven sections cause her waves looked uneven in photos.
Curling disaster: Wrapped first section around the wand and… instant spiral curl. Looked like Shirley Temple! Panicked and shook it out hard till it looked frizzy. Repeated on every section but alternated directions like tutorials said. Half the curls went clockwise, half counter-clockwise. Felt like doing algebra.
Finishing touch: Raked fingers through all the curls to break ’em up. Sprayed more salt crap at the roots for volume. Teased my crown lightly but stopped when I heard hair snap. Added two face-framing pieces like Lima always had.
How It Turned Out
Honestly? Looked decent in selfies with moody lighting. But in real life it felt like a haystack dipped in cheap margarita salt. The curls dropped after two hours cause my hair’s too heavy. Should’ve used smaller sections or stronger product. Sister said I looked “very 2007 MTV” which I’ll take as a win. Gotta try again with better products maybe.
