Okay, here’s my blog post about how I tackled those nasty water stains on my Uggs:
So, the other day, I spilled a whole glass of water right on my favorite pair of chestnut Uggs. I panicked! They looked totally ruined, all dark and splotchy. I thought they were goners, but I decided to try and save them before tossing them out.
My Rescue Mission
First, I grabbed a clean, damp sponge. I didn’t want it soaking wet, just damp enough to lightly wipe the entire boot. The trick is to evenly wet the whole boot, not just the stained area. This helps prevent new water rings from forming as it dries. Yep, I learned that the hard way before.
Then, I gently wiped down both boots, making sure I got every bit of the surface. I didn’t scrub hard, just nice, even strokes. The goal is to blend everything, to get the whole boot looking the same shade of dampness.
After that, I stuffed the boots with paper towels. Plain white ones, because you don’t want any color bleeding onto the suede. This helps them keep their shape while they dry. I changed out the paper towels a few times as they got soaked.
- Dampen a clean sponge.
- Evenly wet the entire surface of both boots.
- Stuff with paper towels to maintain shape.
Next, patience! I placed the boots in a cool, dry spot, away from direct sunlight or heat. I know, it’s tough to wait, but direct heat can mess up the suede. I let them air dry for about 24 hours. It takes a while, but it’s worth it.
Once they were completely dry, I took a suede brush (you can get these pretty cheap online or at a shoe store) and gently brushed the nap. This fluffed up the suede and made them look almost new again. There were still some slight marks, but they were barely noticeable.
So, yeah, it’s totally possible to save your Uggs from water stains. It just takes a little bit of effort and a lot of patience. Don’t give up on them too quickly!
