Okay, so I finally got my hands on a G35 convertible. Always wanted one, ever since I saw it in that old movie… you know the one. Anyway, I’ve been tinkering with it for a few weeks now, and figured I’d share what I’ve been up to.
Getting Started
First thing I did was give it a good wash. I mean, really good. Like, two hours, two buckets, the whole nine yards. It was pretty dirty from sitting in the previous owner’s garage, so I wanted a clean slate to see what I was working with. Found a few minor scratches, nothing major, thankfully.
Under the Hood
Next, I popped the hood. I’m no mechanic, but I like to poke around. Checked the oil – looked okay, but I’ll probably change it soon just to be safe. The air filter was absolutely filthy, so I swapped that out. Easy peasy, took like five minutes. I also noticed the battery terminals were a little corroded, so I grabbed a wire brush and some baking soda and cleaned them up. Shiny!

Interior Time
The inside was in decent shape, but the leather seats were looking a little dry. I picked up some leather conditioner and spent a good hour rubbing it in. Made a huge difference! They look almost new now. I also vacuumed the carpets and wiped down all the surfaces. It’s amazing what a little elbow grease can do.
Top Down!
Of course, the best part about a convertible is putting the top down! I tested it out a few times, just to make sure it was working smoothly. It was a little slow going up and down, so I think I might need to lubricate the mechanism at some point. But hey, it works! Cruising around with the top down on a sunny day…can’t beat that.
What’s Next?
I’ve got big plans for the future. Maybe some new wheels. And will for sure address that slow top situation soon. I am still figuring it out all along the way!
