Alright, so I’d been on this quest, you know? Trying to find a deodorant that didn’t feel like I was slathering a science experiment under my arms every morning. I kept seeing ads for Dr. Squatch, mostly targeted at guys, with all their rugged, woodsy scents. Then, somewhere, I stumbled upon the fact they had a women’s line. My ears perked up.
I figured, why not? My old stuff was just… meh. Not really doing it for me anymore, and I was trying to lean more into products with ingredients I could actually pronounce. So, I did a little digging online. Found their site, saw the options. The packaging was kind of neat, less frilly than a lot of women’s products, which I actually appreciated. I decided to take the plunge and ordered one. I think I went for something that sounded fresh, maybe with a hint of floral but not too overpowering. I’m not a fan of smelling like a whole flower shop.
My First Week With It
When the package arrived, I was pretty eager to try it out. The next morning, after my shower, I twisted it up. The texture, well, it was different. Not bad different, just… not like the super smooth, almost wet feeling of some mainstream deodorants. This felt a bit more solid, more “natural” I guess you could say. I swiped it on. It glided okay, didn’t feel too draggy.
The scent was nice. Subtle, which I liked. It wasn’t one of those “BAM! DEODORANT!” smells that announces your presence from ten feet away. So far, so good. But the real test, of course, is how it holds up throughout the day. I’ve been burned by “natural” deodorants before. They start out great, then by 2 PM, it’s like you never put anything on.
So, day one. I went about my usual routine. Chasing the kids, a bit of housework, running errands. I did a few sneaky sniff tests during the day – don’t pretend you don’t do it too! And honestly? I was pleasantly surprised. By the end of the day, I still felt pretty fresh. No major B.O. breakthrough. I was impressed.
The Long Haul Test
I kept using it. Day after day. I wanted to see if it was a fluke. Was it just a good first impression? Some things I noticed over the next few weeks:
- Odor Control: It generally held up really well for me on normal days. On super hot days, or if I was really active, like a proper workout, it wasn’t invincible. But then again, few deodorants are, especially the non-antiperspirant kind. It’s a deodorant, not a sweat-blocker, and I get that.
- Skin Feel: My skin seemed to like it. No irritation, no itchiness, which has definitely been a problem for me with some other brands, especially those with a ton of baking soda.
- Residue: This is a big one for me. I wear a lot of dark tops. I was careful applying it, not using too much. I did notice if I wasn’t careful, or if I got dressed too quickly, I might get a faint white smudge, but it wasn’t terrible and usually brushed off easily. Better than some others I’ve tried that leave those stubborn, chalky streaks.
- Scent Longevity: The initial scent faded a bit through the day, but the important thing was that it didn’t get replaced by an unpleasant scent. It just sort of neutralized things.
I’ve been through a whole stick now. It lasted a decent amount of time, comparable to other solid deodorants I’ve used. I didn’t feel like I was racing through it super fast.
So, the big question: would I get it again? Yeah, I think I would. I’m actually curious to try some of their other scents. It’s not a miracle worker, it won’t stop you from sweating (because it’s not designed to), but for a more natural deodorant option that actually does a good job on odor, I found it pretty solid. It’s definitely earned a spot in my bathroom cabinet rotation. It’s always a bit of a journey finding products that work for you, and this one felt like a good discovery.
