Cute Short Haircuts for Wavy Hair: Look Book & Styling Tips

Okay, so I finally bit the bullet and chopped my hair! Been thinking about going short for ages, especially with my wavy hair. Here’s how it went down.

Cute Short Haircuts for Wavy Hair: Look Book & Styling Tips

The Prep: First things first, I did a ton of research. I scrolled through Pinterest and Instagram for hours, searching “short wavy hair haircuts.” I wanted something that would work with my natural wave pattern and wouldn’t require too much styling. Found a few pics I liked, saved them on my phone.

Finding a Stylist: This was key. I knew I couldn’t just go to any old salon. I needed someone who understood wavy hair. I asked around for recommendations and ended up booking an appointment with a stylist who specialized in curly and wavy cuts. Made sure to book a consultation first so we could chat about what I wanted and what she thought would work best.

The Consultation: Showed her my inspo pics and explained that I wanted something easy to manage. She checked out my hair, how it waved naturally, and talked about different layering techniques. She suggested a layered bob that would enhance the waves without making it too bulky. We agreed on a length that would hit just above my shoulders.

The Cut: Honestly, I was a little nervous! Watching chunks of my hair fall to the floor was a bit scary. But the stylist was super professional and explained everything she was doing. She cut my hair dry, which is supposed to be better for wavy hair because it allows her to see how the hair will actually fall. Lots of layering went into this thing.

Styling: After the cut, she styled my hair using a diffuser and some curl-defining products. She showed me how to scrunch my hair to encourage the waves and how to use the diffuser to avoid frizz. Learned a few new tricks, which was awesome.

The Result: I freaking love it! My hair feels so much lighter and bouncier. The layers really enhance the waves, and it’s surprisingly easy to style. I can just wash it, add some product, and let it air dry, and it looks pretty good.

The Aftermath: Okay, so it’s been a week since the cut, and I’m still obsessed. I’ve been experimenting with different products and styling techniques. I’ve found that a little mousse and some sea salt spray work best for my hair. Also, sleeping with my hair in a loose pineapple (high ponytail on top of my head) helps to maintain the waves overnight.

Things I Learned:

  • Finding the right stylist is crucial.
  • Dry cuts are the way to go for wavy hair.
  • Less is more when it comes to product.
  • Embrace the waves!

Would I do it again? Absolutely! Chopping my hair was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a while. It’s so much easier to manage, and I feel way more confident with my new look. If you’re thinking about going short with wavy hair, I say go for it!
