Well, let me tell you ’bout this gal, Shandi, from that America’s Next Top Model show. You know, the one where they try to make regular girls into fancy models? Yeah, that one.

Shandi, she was just a regular girl, workin’ at the Walgreens store, you know, sellin’ toothpaste and stuff. Her own mama even called her an “ugly duckling,” can you believe that? Poor thing. But she went on that TV show, brave little thing, she was.
- She wasn’t no fancy pants model right off the bat, mind you.
- First few times, she stumbled on that runway, like a newborn calf.
- But them judges, they saw somethin’ in her, somethin’ special, even if she didn’t look like those stick-thin models they usually liked.
They kept her around, and she started learnin’. They fixed up her hair, taught her how to walk, how to pose. It was like watchin’ a caterpillar turn into a butterfly, I tell ya. And let me tell you, that transformation was somethin’ else! She really blossomed, that Shandi girl did. From sellin’ pills to posin’ for magazines, that’s a big jump, I say.
Now, after the show, she didn’t just disappear neither. She went on to be a real model, workin’ for big names and all. Took pictures for magazines, walked in fashion shows. She even worked with that Nigel Barker fella, the one with the pretty eyes.
She did all sorts of things, even worked with Walmart, can you imagine? From high fashion to everyday stuff, she did it all. She even did some work with Samsung, you know, those folks who make the fancy phones. And she was in US Weekly, too. That’s a big deal, I reckon.
Then, she took a break from all that modelin’ stuff. A long break, almost ten years, they say. Went back to Kansas City, where she came from. Seems like she wanted a normal life for a while, you know? Can’t blame her, all that glitz and glamor can wear a person out, I bet. After all, she’s a girl from Kansas, through and through.

But then, she popped back up again! Started workin’ as a DJ, spinnin’ records and makin’ people dance. Who knew she had that in her? It just goes to show, you never can tell what a person’s gonna do next. Life’s full of surprises, that’s for sure.
And get this, she even went on some podcast thingy, talkin’ about her time on the show. Said all the girls who got kicked off went to Milan, except for one. Milan, Italy, that’s a long way from Kansas, I tell ya. She’s seen a lot, that Shandi girl.
Folks still talk about her, even now. They say she was one of the best, one of the ones who really changed on the show. Started out shy and awkward, ended up a real beauty. That’s what they call a “transformation,” I guess. And let me tell you, Shandi had one heck of a transformation. She proved that even an “ugly duckling” can become a swan, or in her case, a top model.
Now some folks whisper about her doin’ other kinds of entertainin’, but I ain’t one to gossip. What a person does in their private life is their own business, I say. She’s a hard worker, that’s what matters. And she’s a good example for all them young girls out there, showin’ ’em that they can be anything they want to be, even if they start out sellin’ toothpaste at the Walgreens.
So that’s the story of Shandi, as far as I know it. A regular girl who became a model, then a DJ. A real success story, if you ask me. And it all started on that crazy TV show, America’s Next Top Model. Who woulda thought?
