Okay, so, let’s talk about this whole swimsuit thing. I decided to find a decent one-piece swimsuit. You know, something that doesn’t make you look like a total slob but also doesn’t scream, “I’m trying too hard.”

First, I started with some online browsing. I figured I’d check out what the internet was saying about “flattering” swimsuits. Man, there’s a lot of junk out there. Lots of places telling you what’s “in” for 2024, like these are some kind of fashion revolution. Ruffles? Cutouts? Please.
Seriously, Shopping for Swimsuits Is a Nightmare
It’s like they think every woman wants to look like a 20-year-old model. Newsflash: some of us just want to swim without feeling like a stuffed sausage. I tried to focus on finding something that offered, a little support, you know? But I also do not want to look like my grandma.
Here’s What I Looked For
- Coverage: I’m not looking for a bikini, people. I want something that covers the essentials without looking like a tent.
- Style: Classic is good. Trendy is usually bad, especially when it comes to swimwear. I don’t want something I’ll hate in two years.
- Comfort: If it feels like I’m wearing a medieval torture device, it’s a no-go. I just want to have a good time, you know? I do not want to be tortured by clothing.
I spent a couple of days looking around online, but honestly, it was just overwhelming. I hate these model pictures, and they just make me feel worse.
So, I decided to brave the actual stores. Yeah, I know, who does that anymore? But I figured it was the only way to really see how these things fit. I went to a few different places, tried on a bunch of different styles. Most of them were awful. Either they were way too skimpy, or they were just plain ugly. Or, they looked like they were made for someone twice my age.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I found one. It’s a simple black one-piece. It’s not too tight, not too loose. It doesn’t have any weird frills or patterns. It just looks… normal. It felt good on. So I bought it. That is it. Finally, I am done.

It’s not going to win any fashion awards, but it gets the job done. And honestly, that’s all I really wanted. A simple, comfortable swimsuit that doesn’t make me feel like a complete mess. Mission accomplished, I guess.
