So, I found myself needing some new tie clips. You know how it is, the old ones either vanish into thin air or just start looking a bit tired. Had a couple of things coming up where I wanted to look sharp, and a floppy tie wasn’t going to cut it. I thought, “Right, need to sort this out.”

First thing that came to mind was Macy’s. Figured they’d have a decent selection, and it’s usually pretty easy to get to. So, I made a plan to head over there one afternoon. Luckily, it wasn’t a mad rush when I went, which always makes shopping a bit more pleasant, doesn’t it?

Once I got into the store, I started my usual hunt. You know, department stores can be a bit of a maze. I headed towards the men’s section, then began scanning for the accessories area. Took a little bit of wandering, but I eventually zeroed in on the ties, and sure enough, the tie clips were right there. They were displayed with cufflinks and other bits and bobs, which made sense.

Digging Through the Options

They actually had a pretty good spread. I saw a few different brands, some really simple, plain ones – silver, gold-tone, that kind of thing. Then there were others with little patterns, some even had tiny logos. I probably spent a good ten, fifteen minutes just looking through everything. I picked a few up, got a feel for the weight and the clasp. You don’t want something that feels like it’s going to snap after two uses, right?

  • First, I mentally filtered out the really flashy ones. Not really my thing.
  • Then I focused on the more classic, understated designs. That’s usually my go-to.
  • I made sure to check the spring mechanism on the clasps. Wanted something that felt secure.
  • And, of course, I kept an eye on the prices. Some of them can get surprisingly expensive for what they are.

After a bit of back-and-forth, I settled on two. I picked up a very straightforward, polished silver one – can’t go wrong with that. And then I grabbed another one that had a subtle brushed finish, just for a little bit of difference. Felt like a good haul, and I didn’t have to empty my wallet for them.

Paying was easy enough, just a quick trip to the till. The person there was friendly. Got them home, unwrapped them. They looked pretty decent, actually. Solid.

I actually wore the silver one to a dinner thing last week. Kept my tie neat, no issues at all. Looked the part. So yeah, all in all, a successful little trip to Macy’s. Sometimes you just need a specific thing, and it’s good when you can find it without too much drama. Pretty pleased with how that worked out.
