Alright, so you’ve probably seen the Tissot PRX floating around. Everywhere, right? On wrists, in pictures, people talking it up. For a good while, I just sort of watched from the sidelines. Another hyped-up piece, I figured. I’ve seen plenty of those come and go, believe me.

Getting Curious, Finally
But then, you know how it is. You see it enough times, and a little curiosity starts to brew. I started actually looking into it. Not just the fancy pictures, but what people were really saying after wearing it for a bit. I was after something simple, something I could wear without a fuss, but that still had a bit of character. Didn’t want another chunky diver or a super delicate dress watch. Just something… easy, with a bit of a retro kick.
I remember thinking, “Is this just a fad, or is there something to it?” I spent a few evenings just browsing, reading bits here and there. The design, that 70s vibe, it did catch my eye. I’m a sucker for that kind of look, done right.
Pulling the Trigger
So, one Saturday, I was out and about, not really planning anything. Walked past a jewelers, and there it was in the window. The blue dial Powermatic 80. Looked pretty sharp under the store lights, I gotta admit. I went in, mostly just to handle it. That’s the real test, isn’t it? How it feels in your hand, on your wrist.
Tried it on. The bracelet felt pretty good, integrated like everyone says. It was slim. Slimmer than I thought, actually. And that blue, it really popped. I ummed and ahhed for a bit. The sales guy was patient, thankfully. In the end, I just thought, “What the heck,” and decided to go for it. No big drama, just a feeling that it was the right kind of everyday watch I’d been passively looking for.
Living With It: The Real Deal
Got it home, sized the bracelet – which, by the way, wasn’t too bad to do myself, just needed a decent tool and a bit of patience. First few days, I was a bit precious with it, you know? Checking for scratches, wiping off fingerprints constantly. That dial, especially the blue, sure does like fingerprints!

But then, it just became… my watch. Threw it on in the morning, didn’t think too much about it. That’s what I wanted. It’s been surprisingly versatile. Works with a t-shirt, works if I need to dress up a little bit. It’s not trying too hard, and I like that.
One thing though, and this is just a small thing, really. That integrated bracelet, while it looks cool and feels mostly comfortable, sometimes, just sometimes, it can pinch a wrist hair if I move my hand a certain way. Not all the time, not a dealbreaker, but it’s happened. Nobody ever mentioned that in the glossy reviews, did they? It’s those little real-world things you discover.
And the clasp. It’s secure, no doubt. But sometimes it’s a bit fiddly to get just right on the first try. Maybe it’s just my fingers. Or maybe it needs to break in a bit more. Who knows.
So, What’s the Verdict?
Overall? Yeah, I’m pretty happy with it. It’s not a perfect watch, because what is? But for what it is, and what I paid for it, it’s a solid piece. It’s grown on me. It’s done the job I wanted it to do: be a reliable, good-looking, easy-to-wear watch that doesn’t cause a fuss.
It’s funny, all that hype, and at the end of the day, it’s just a watch. A decent watch. And sometimes, that’s all you need, isn’t it? It’s certainly found a regular spot in my rotation. No regrets on this one. It just works.
