Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Swatch Hodinkee collaboration for a while. I finally decided to go for it. I heard that it’s a summer edition, called “Generation 1986,” which sounded pretty cool.
I went online, you know, just to check out some pictures and see what people were saying. I saw some photos of the Swatch X Blancpain 50 Fathoms from Hodinkee, and I thought, “Wow, that looks really nice!” It’s a bit bigger than what I usually wear, but still, it looked pretty good.
Then, I remembered walking past this small shop a while back. There were some watches in the window, nothing special, but then I saw this Swatch with a smoky case and a blue dial. It caught my eye, but I didn’t think much of it at the time.
Later, I saw this new green Swatch that Hodinkee released. That one looked awesome too! It got me thinking about how Swatch always comes up with these cool, creative designs.
I did a little more digging, and it turns out this new one is called “What If?” It’s a square version of their classic ’80s design. I remembered when Omega and Swatch did that collaboration in 2022, the one that took everyone by surprise. That’s when I knew I had to get my hands on this Hodinkee one.
I found out that all Swatch watches are water-resistant, which is great. But they say you shouldn’t mess with the crown or buttons underwater. Makes sense. I also learned that their first quartz models in 1983 had 51 parts, and they made this mechanical movement called SISTEM51 with the same number of parts. Pretty neat, huh?
Oh, and I discovered that Swatch has this ultra-thin line called Original Skin, which they launched in 1997. It’s only 3.9 mm thick!
So, I finally ordered the watch. It arrived a few days later, and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I’m really happy with it. It’s a great conversation starter, and it’s just a really cool, unique watch.
The thing I like most is that it’s a collaboration with Hodinkee, and it just feels like a special piece. Plus, it is just in time for summer! It’s not every day you find a watch that’s stylish, well-made, and has a cool story behind it.

Getting that Swatch Hodinkee

I think for anyone else looking for something a bit different, I’d say go check out what Swatch is up to. You might be surprised. And this Hodinkee collaboration? Definitely worth it in my book.
