Sneakers Market Crash: What Happens Next? (Simple Guide)

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole sneaker reselling thing for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a rollercoaster. Lately, it feels like the whole market’s gone bonkers. I wanted to share my experience with this “sneakers market crash,” just my personal journey, you know?

Sneakers Market Crash: What Happens Next? (Simple Guide)

My Sneaker Journey

It all started pretty innocently. I copped a pair of hyped-up Jordans, not even planning to resell them. But then I saw what they were going for online… and, well, I got hooked. I started researching, watching YouTube videos, joining those Discord groups – the whole nine yards.

At first, it was great! I managed to snag a few limited releases, flipped them for a decent profit, and thought, “Hey, I’m pretty good at this!” I even built up a little spreadsheet, tracking my buys, sales, and profits. Felt like a real businessman, haha.

I started to get, and with the little process, I set up a system:

  • Wake up early on release days, fingers crossed for a W.
  • Join raffles enter every single one, and pray the raffle gods were in my favor.
  • Try online and try my best to win the shoes I want to sell.
  • If I got lucky, list them on the usual platforms, set my price, and wait for the offers to roll in.

But then… things started to change. More and more people seemed to be getting into the game. Releases became even harder to cop, bots were everywhere, and the prices started to fluctuate like crazy.

I remember one specific drop – a pair of Travis Scott collabs. I thought I had it in the bag. I had multiple devices, fast internet, everything. But… nothing. Complete L. And then I saw the resale prices, initially sky-high, start to plummet within days. It was insane.

That’s when I started to see the cracks in the market. It felt like everyone was trying to resell, the supply was outweighing the demand, and people were getting desperate to offload their stock, even at a loss.

My spreadsheet, once filled with green numbers, started showing more and more red. Sales slowed down, I had shoes sitting around for weeks, and I started to panic a little. I even had to lower my prices below retail on a couple of pairs just to get rid of them. Ouch.

So, yeah, that’s my experience with this whole “sneaker market crash” thing. It’s been a wild ride, a learning experience, and honestly, a bit of a wake-up call. I’m still figuring out my next move, but one thing’s for sure: the game has definitely changed.
