My Awful Snapchat Experience
Look, this freaked me out yesterday. Someone slid into my DMs on Snapchat with no warning. Totally unsolicited, just bam – a picture, you know the kind. I’m talking the totally wrong one. It wasn’t just shocking, it felt gross and violating. Nobody should get stuff like that.

How I Deleted That Crap Fast
First thing? Panic delete. I tapped on the chat like lightning. Right on the stupid picture itself, I held my finger down. A menu popped up – thank god – and I saw the ‘Delete Chat’ option blinking there. Hit that without blinking. Gone. Instant relief, right? Wrong. Still felt icky. Needed to make sure this creep couldn’t just do it again.
Blocking & Reporting Step-by-Step
Next stop? Block button. I went back to my main Chat list somehow, my hands were shaking. Found his dumb username in the list. Pushed down on it again, hard this time. Scrolled down the options:
- Saw the ‘Block’ choice right there. Slammed that button. Snapchat confirmed he was blocked, no messages coming through anymore.
- But blocking ain’t enough. This guy needs reporting. Found the ‘Report’ option right below ‘Block’. Tapped it.
- Told Snapchat straight up: ‘Harassment or Bullying‘. Then got more specific: ‘Sexual Harassment‘.
- Snapchat then asked if I wanted to upload evidence. Heck yeah I did. Thankfully, the stupid pic was still saved in their system for reporting. Submitted it. Got a ‘Report Submitted’ message.
Double Checking My Snapchat Settings
Paranoid now, I went digging into Settings.
- Found “Who Can…” section.
- Changed “Contact Me” to ‘My Friends‘ only. No randos.
- Checked “View My Story” – also set to ‘Friends‘.
Massive difference. Suddenly felt way more in control, like I slammed a door shut. Took maybe 5 minutes total, but feels like I put up a fortress wall.
Final Thoughts
Look, it sucked dealing with that crap. Really rattled me. But getting it deleted, blocking that person fast, and actually reporting him with the evidence? That felt powerful. Changed my settings too. Still pissed it happened, but now I know exactly what to do next time, no hesitation. Everybody should know this stuff. Snapchat needs to make this easier, seriously.
