Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into this whole shiny leather purse thing for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. I bought this really nice leather purse a few weeks ago, and it’s been my go-to ever since. But, you know how it is with nice things, you want to keep them looking their best, right?

So, I started looking into ways to keep the leather looking all shiny and new. I didn’t want to use any of those fancy, expensive products. I’m more of a do-it-yourself kind of gal. I found some articles online that talked about using stuff you already have at home, which sounded perfect.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my supplies. I grabbed a couple of soft cloths – one for cleaning and one for buffing. Then, I dug out some Vaseline from my bathroom cabinet. I know it sounds weird, but apparently, it works wonders on leather. I also filled a small bowl with warm water and added a tiny bit of mild soap.
The Cleaning Process
Before I could get to the shining part, I needed to clean the purse. I dipped a cloth into the soapy water, wrung it out, and gently wiped down the entire surface of the purse. I made sure to get into all the little nooks and crannies. It was a bit dirty, but not too bad. Once I was done, I rinsed the cloth with clean water and wiped the purse again to remove any soap residue.
Applying the Vaseline
- This is where things got interesting. I took a small amount of Vaseline on my fingers and started rubbing it into the leather. I worked in small sections, making sure to cover the entire surface evenly.
- The leather immediately started to look a bit darker and richer, which was a good sign.
- I kept rubbing until the Vaseline was mostly absorbed.
Buffing Time
After letting the Vaseline sit for about 15 minutes, I took my clean, dry cloth and started buffing the leather. I rubbed in small, circular motions, and slowly but surely, the shine started to come through. It was actually pretty satisfying to see the transformation. I kept buffing until the whole purse had a nice, soft sheen to it. I mean, it looked way better than I expected!
The Final Result
Honestly, I was pretty impressed with how it turned out. The purse looked almost brand new, and the leather felt so much softer and more supple. It definitely had that shiny look I was going for. And the best part is, I didn’t have to spend a bunch of money on special products. This is definitely something I’ll be doing again in the future to keep my purse looking its best. It’s a simple process, but the results are noticeable. If you have a leather purse you love, you might want to give this a try. You might be surprised at how easy it is to make it shine!
