Okay, so, I’ve been totally obsessed with Sabrina Carpenter’s hair lately. You know, that super bouncy, layered look with the curtain bangs? I finally decided to take the plunge and try to get it myself. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous, but I figured, why not? Hair grows back, right?

Prepping for the Chop
First thing I did was gather a bunch of pictures of Sabrina. I mean, a lot of pictures. Different angles, different lighting, you name it. I wanted to be super prepared when I went to the salon. I even watched a few videos online where people were talking about her haircut, which they call “The Shangri-La”. Apparently, it’s a big thing now.
Then, I booked an appointment at my usual salon. I made sure to tell them I wanted “long layers with face-framing and long curtain bangs,” just like I read online. I even showed them the pictures of Sabrina, just to be extra clear. I did not want to end up with a mullet, oh no, no, no!
In the Salon Chair
When I got to the salon, I explained everything to my stylist again. She seemed to know what I was talking about, which was a relief. She did tell me that my hair was not exactly like Sabrina’s, but she could do something similar to what I showed her.
- We started by washing my hair.
- Then, she sectioned it off and started cutting.
- She spent a good amount of time layering the back, making sure it was nice and bouncy.
- The face-framing layers came next. I closed my eyes at times, it was a little nerve-wracking, but it turned out okay.
- Finally, she cut the curtain bangs. That was probably the most important part.
The Big Reveal
After the cut, she blow-dried my hair and styled it. I have to say, I was pretty happy with how it turned out! It wasn’t exactly like Sabrina’s, but it was pretty close. It had that same bouncy, layered look, and the curtain bangs were perfect.
I noticed my stylist using some Redken products, some bonding something, I don’t remember exactly what she was saying. I think it helped with the texture and shine. My hair felt really soft and smooth afterwards. She explained that I could use a similar product at home. I guess the right products are important too.

Living with the Look
It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still loving my new haircut. It’s pretty easy to style, which is a major plus. I just wash it, blow-dry it, and add a little bit of product for texture. Sometimes I curl it with a curling iron to get that extra bouncy look, but most days I just let it air dry. It is a very versatile style. It definitely has that mix of elegant and fun that I read about.
Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting this haircut, I say go for it! Just make sure you do your research, find a good stylist, and you might just end up with the hair of your dreams. I know I sure did, even if it is not a carbon copy of Sabrina’s own hair.
