Okay, so I wanted to mess around with some red highlights in my notes, just to see if I could make certain things pop more. I’ve seen it done before, and it looked pretty cool, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
Experimenting with Highlighting
First, I just grabbed a regular red pen. I started by underlining a few words in one of my notebooks, just random stuff I’d jotted down earlier. It looked okay, but it was a little… messy. The ink bled a bit, and it wasn’t very precise.
Then, I remembered I had some red colored pencils somewhere. I dug those out and tried highlighting a few phrases. This was definitely better! The color was softer, and I could control the thickness of the line much easier. I could even do a light shading effect, which was kinda neat.

After that, I thought, “What about digital notes?” I use this note-taking app on my tablet, so I opened it up and looked for a red highlighting tool. Sure enough, there it was! I selected the red color and started highlighting some text. It was super clean and easy to undo if I messed up.
I was so excited to find that the function to highlight text is there!
I played around with different shades of red, too. Some were too bright and distracting, but a slightly darker, more muted red worked perfectly. It made the highlighted text stand out without being overwhelming.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with red highlights. Pens are a no-go, colored pencils are decent, but digital highlighting is definitely the winner. It’s clean, easy, and you can experiment with different shades until you find the perfect one. I’ll probably stick with the digital option for most of my notes now.
