But the whole desert area, Joshua Tree included, seemed like a solid bet for sunshine when other places are gloomy. I thought about the kind of quiet you get in the desert.
- The Coast (SoCal specifically): I love the coast. Who doesn’t? But Northern California in Jan? Bit of a gamble with rain, and I wasn’t in the mood to get soaked. So, my focus shifted south. San Diego, Laguna Beach, places like that. They tend to have milder, drier winters. I remember a trip to LA years ago in winter and it was surprisingly pleasant.
