Okay, here’s my blog post about trying out “5 Outfits for a Casual Weekend”:
So, this weekend I was staring at my closet, feeling that all-too-familiar “I have nothing to wear” vibe, even though it’s packed. I decided to actually do something about it and challenge myself to come up with five different outfits using mostly what I already had. It was kinda fun, and I figured I’d share the process, in case anyone else is stuck in a style rut.
Step 1: The Inventory (aka The Closet Dive)
First, I pulled out pretty much everything that could be considered “casual.” We’re talking jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, shorts, skirts… the whole nine yards. I dumped it all on my bed. It was a mountain of clothes, seriously. I even found some stuff I’d forgotten I owned!
Step 2: The Basic Building Blocks
Next, I started sorting. I grouped similar items together – all the jeans in one pile, all the t-shirts in another, etc. This helped me see what my options were. I picked out a few key pieces that I knew I wanted to use, like my favorite pair of dark-wash jeans and a comfy striped tee.
Step 3: Mixing and Matching (and Some Serious Fails)
This is where the experimentation began! I tried pairing different tops with different bottoms, adding in jackets, scarves, and whatever else caught my eye. Honestly, some of the combinations were… questionable. Like, that floral skirt with the striped top? Big NOPE. But I kept trying different things until I found looks I liked.
- Outfit 1: Jeans, striped tee, denim jacket. Classic and easy.
- Outfit 2: Black leggings, oversized sweater, sneakers. Super comfy for running errands.
- Outfit 3: Denim shorts, white t-shirt, colorful scarf. Good for a warmer day.
- Outfit 4: Flowy skirt, simple tank top, cardigan. A little more dressed up, but still casual.
- Outfit 5: My favorite, Boyfriend jeans and black T-shirt.
Step 4: Accessorize!
I go through my drawer and pick some simple necklaces and earrings. I choose my everyday bag and my favorite pair of sunglasses.
Step 5: The Final Look (and Feeling Good!)
After a couple of hours of playing around, I actually had five complete outfits that I felt good about! It was a relief to know I had some go-to options for the weekend, and it even inspired me to think about new ways to wear my old clothes. It’s amazing what you can create when you just take the time to experiment a little. I highly recommend taking photos and taking note of the final outfit for you to remember. I did, and feel so good!
