Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about where to put my purse when I’m at a restaurant. It’s always a bit of a puzzle, right? I mean, you don’t want to just leave it on the floor, but it’s also kind of annoying to have it on your lap the whole time. So, I decided to do some experimenting and see what works best.
My Experiment
First, I tried putting it on the back of my chair. This seemed like a good idea at first, but then I realized it was pretty easy for someone to just walk by and grab it. Plus, it kept slipping off every time I moved. Not ideal.
Next, I tried keeping it on my lap. This was okay for a little while, but it got uncomfortable pretty fast. And it made it hard to, you know, actually eat my food. Also, I spilled sauce on it once. Oops.
- Option 1: Back of the chair – Too risky, keeps falling off.
- Option 2: On my lap – Uncomfortable, gets in the way of eating.
Then, I saw some people putting their purses on the table. I was hesitant at first, It’s not that sanitary, especially for a table where people eat. But in some casual settings, if the purse is clean and small, it might be acceptable. Still, I’m not a big fan of this one.
Finally, I decided to try something different. I started bringing a small, foldable hook with me to restaurants. You just hang it on the edge of the table, and then you can hang your purse on the hook. It keeps it off the floor and out of the way, but still within reach. Genius, right?
- Option 3: On the table – not that sanitary.
- Option 4: Using a purse hook – Keeps it clean and within reach.
The Verdict
So, after all my experimenting, I’ve concluded that the purse hook is the way to go. It’s the most practical and convenient solution I’ve found. Of course, it might not work in every situation, but it’s definitely my go-to now. If you don’t have a spare chair for your purse, this seems like the best option to me.

And that’s my little journey into the world of purse placement at restaurants. Hope this helps someone out there!
