So, I was just fiddling around on my phone the other day, you know, scrolling through stuff. And I kept seeing these pictures popping up, you know, “hair model mens” this, “hair model mens” that. And man, their hair! Looked like it was carved by an angel or something. Not a single hair out of place. It really got me thinking.
I figured, “What the heck, let’s try something new.” I’ve had the same boring haircut for ages. So, I grabbed my phone, found a couple of those fancy model hairstyles I liked, and saved them. Thought I was all set, you know? Ready for a change.
Next day, I walked into my usual barber shop. Showed him the picture on my phone. He kinda looked at it, then looked at my hair, then back at the picture. He just nodded, grabbed his scissors, and started snipping away. I was feeling pretty optimistic, actually. Thought, “This is it, I’m gonna look sharp.”
Well, he finished up, spun the chair around. I took a look in the mirror. And… it wasn’t exactly what was on my phone. Not even close, really. It wasn’t a bad haircut, don’t get me wrong. But it wasn’t that model hair. Then he reached under the counter and pulled out this massive tub of what looked like glue. Seriously. He told me, “Okay, so every morning, you gotta use this, then this other spray, and then you gotta blow dry it just so, and then use a bit more of this…” I was just staring at him.
He said it would take, oh, maybe 30 to 45 minutes. Every single day. Just for my hair! And the number of products! It was like a chemistry set.
- Step one: wash. Okay, normal.
- Step two: some pre-styling gunk.
- Step three: meticulous blow-drying with a special brush.
- Step four: the main styling cement-like paste.
- Step five: finishing spray to hold it against a hurricane.
That’s when it kinda hit me. These “hair model mens” photos, they look incredible, yeah. But the sheer amount of work! Who actually does all that every single day? Is it all just for that one perfect photo shoot? It started to feel a bit like a whole performance, you know? Like something totally unrealistic for a regular guy just trying to get through the morning.
I just kind of nodded at the barber, paid for the cut, but I left all those miracle goo products right there on his shelf. I went home, took a shower, and just let my hair dry how it wanted. And you know what? It felt pretty good. A lot less stressful, that’s for sure. Maybe those super slick, perfect model hairstyles are awesome to look at, but I think I’ll pass on the effort. My old simple cut started looking pretty good to me again. Life’s complicated enough without wrestling your hair into submission for an hour each morning. Just my two cents, anyway.
