Need the official LV Neverfull GM measurement? Check these simple size specs before you decide to buy.

Okay, so I finally got around to actually measuring my Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM. I’ve had it for ages, use it all the time, but never really bothered to check the exact size myself. Someone asked, and honestly, looking online gives you slightly different numbers sometimes, so I thought, why not just do it?

Getting Started

First thing, I had to empty it out. Seriously, the amount of stuff that accumulates in this bag is wild. Old receipts, a half-eaten snack bar, you name it. Gave it a good shake out over the bin.

Then, I grabbed my measuring tape. Just a regular, soft tape measure, the kind you use for sewing. I find these easier for bags because they bend around the shapes better than a stiff metal one.

The Actual Measuring Process

I laid the bag down flat on my dining table. Tried to get it as flat as possible, pressing out the base.

Base Length: I measured across the very bottom, from one corner seam to the other along the longest side. Really stretched the tape tight against the canvas.

Height: This one was a bit trickier because the bag naturally slouches. I stood it up as best I could and measured from the middle of the base, straight up to the top edge trim. Didn’t include the handles, just the body of the bag.

Width (Depth): For the width, or depth, I measured across the side panel at the base. Again, seam to seam.

Top Opening Width: Now, the top is way wider than the base, especially when it’s open. I spread the sides out fully, like how it would be if you were rummaging inside, and measured across the opening from edge to edge.

Handle Drop: Lastly, I checked the handle drop. Just held the bag up by one handle and measured from the very top of the handle curve down to the top edge of the bag itself.

My Findings

So, after all that fiddling around, here’s what I jotted down:

  • Base Length: Around 15.5 inches.
  • Height: About 12.8 inches, give or take a tiny bit depending on how straight I held it.
  • Width/Depth at Base: Roughly 7.9 inches.
  • Top Opening (when spread): Easily over 21 inches wide.
  • Handle Drop: Close to 8 inches.

There you have it. It’s a big bag, no doubt about it, hence the ‘GM’ (Grand Modèle). Measuring it myself just confirmed it’s definitely spacious. It wasn’t super scientific, just me, the bag, and a tape measure, but those are the real-world numbers I got from my own Neverfull GM.
