Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with the song “This Diamond Ring” and try to get the lyrics down. I’ve always loved that tune, but I realized I only knew, like, half the words. Time to fix that!

First, I fired up my trusty old web browser. Gotta start somewhere, right? I just typed in “lyrics this diamond ring” and hoped for the best. Thankfully, plenty of results popped up.
I clicked on the first few that looked promising. Some were pretty good, but others… not so much. You know how it is, some lyrics sites are just full of junk.
- Some sites had weird formatting.
- Others had obvious mistakes in the lyrics. Ugh.
- Then you got those annoying pop-up ads everywhere!
Digging Deeper
After a bit of searching, I found a couple of versions that seemed pretty accurate. I decided to use more than one, just to be extra careful. Good to have multiple source.
Next, I opened up a simple text editor. Nothing fancy, just something to copy and paste into. I went through the lyrics line by line, comparing the different versions I found.
There were a few spots where the different sources disagreed. When that happened, I tried to listen closely to the song itself to see which version sounded right. My ears are pretty good, so I trust my music sense.

It took a little while, but I finally got a version of the lyrics that I’m happy with. I even added some notes about the different parts of the song – verse, chorus, bridge, that kind of thing.
Now I can finally sing along with “This Diamond Ring” without mumbling through half the words! It’s such a great song, I feel good now I can appriciate the lyrics too.
