Okay, here we go! Let’s talk about my little 2014 hairstyles for women experiment.

So, back in the day, 2014 was all about those specific styles, right? I remember flipping through magazines and seeing all these cool looks, and I thought, “Hey, I gotta try some of these out!”

First thing I did was a deep dive online. I spent a good chunk of an afternoon just scrolling through Pinterest and fashion blogs, saving pictures of hairstyles that caught my eye. We’re talking messy buns, side braids, and those wavy, almost-beachy looks that were everywhere back then. I even printed some out – yeah, printed! Remember doing that?

Next up? Preparation. I knew my hair wasn’t exactly ready for some of these styles. It was kinda dry and frizzy. So, I hit up the drugstore and grabbed a deep conditioner, some hair oil, and a heat protectant spray. Figured I’d need all the help I could get.

I started with the easiest one: the messy bun. I mean, how hard could that be? Turns out, harder than I thought. My first attempt looked more like a bird’s nest than a chic, effortless updo. After a few tries, and a couple of YouTube tutorials, I finally got something that resembled the pictures. The key was definitely the bobby pins – lots and lots of bobby pins.

Then I moved on to the side braid. This one was a bit more challenging. I’d never been great at braiding, and trying to do it on the side of my head while looking in a mirror was a real struggle. My arms were aching! But I kept at it, and eventually managed to create a decent-looking braid. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely an improvement from my first attempt.

The wavy look was probably the most time-consuming. I didn’t have a curling iron back then, so I tried using my straightener to create the waves. It took forever! And honestly, the results were pretty inconsistent. Some waves were tight, others were loose, and some just looked…bent. Eventually, I gave up on the straightener and invested in a cheap curling wand. That made a huge difference. Still took practice, but the waves looked way better.

Throughout this whole process, I was constantly taking pictures of my progress (or lack thereof). It was fun to see how far I’d come from those initial disastrous attempts. And honestly, it was just a good excuse to play around with my hair and try new things.

The biggest takeaway? Practice makes perfect. None of these styles came naturally to me, but with a little patience and perseverance, I was able to create some pretty cool looks. Plus, it was a fun way to experiment with my style and feel a little more confident.

I wouldn’t say I mastered all the 2014 hairstyles for women, but I definitely learned a lot along the way. And who knows, maybe I’ll dust off those old techniques and give them another try sometime!
