Kim Van Jewelry Review: Is It Worth the Investment?

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “kim van jewelry” all over my Pinterest and decided to give it a shot myself. I’m not gonna lie, the minimalist, slightly edgy vibe really got me.

Kim Van Jewelry Review: Is It Worth the Investment?

Getting Started

First things first, I needed some inspiration. I spent, like, a solid hour just scrolling through images. I wanted to see the different styles, how people were layering pieces, and what metals they were using. Mostly it’s gold, so I made sure I had gold.

Gathering My Supplies

Next, I needed supplies. My craft box, is kinda a organized chaos. But I figured, I need some:

  • Various Chains: delicate ones, chunkier ones, different textures.
  • Pendants: I had a few small, geometric charms lying around.
  • Jump Rings: Different sizes, absolutely essential.
  • Jewelry Pliers: Needle-nose and round-nose, gotta have both.
  • Wire Cutters: For trimming excess chain.
  • Clasps: Lobster clasps are my favorite.

The Messy (But Fun) Part

So, I laid everything out on my table, which instantly became a disaster zone. I started by playing around with different chain combinations. I decided to make a layered necklace, so I picked three chains of varying lengths. This part was a little tricky, getting the lengths right so they would lay nicely. Lots of trial and error, let me tell you.

Then I attached the pendants. I used jump rings to connect them to the chains. Opened the jump rings with my pliers, looped them through, and closed them tightly. I ended up putting a small, simple gold bar on the shortest chain, and a slightly larger, circular pendant on the middle chain. No pendant on my longest.

The clasps were the trickiest. I attached jump rings to the ends of each chain, then attached the lobster clasps to those jump rings. Had to really squeeze those jump rings shut to make sure they were secure.

The Final Result

Honestly, it took a few tries, and a couple of “oops” moments where I dropped things or got chains tangled, but I finally finished! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s simple, a little bit edgy, and totally wearable. It’s not perfect, a little crooked maybe, but hey, that’s the charm of handmade stuff, right?

I’ve worn it a couple of times already, and I’ve gotten compliments! So, yeah, I’d say my little “kim van jewelry” experiment was a success. Might even try making some earrings next. Definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re looking for a fun, creative project!
