So, I saw this super cute bag online the other day, right? It’s called the Kelly Doll bag. At first, I thought it was some kind of joke. I mean, it’s a tiny, little bag, like, doll-sized. But then I looked into it more, and it turns out it’s a real thing, and some people really like to collect them. I decided, why not try to make a similar one myself, because I didn’t want to pay that much for the real thing.

First, I grabbed some scrap leather I had lying around. Luckily, it was this nice, soft kind, similar to what I saw in the pictures of the real Kelly Doll. I sketched out a rough design, trying to copy that iconic shape, you know, the one with the flap and the little handle. I even tried to make the little arms and legs. I’m no expert, but I think they turned out pretty cute.
- I cut out all the pieces, making sure to double-check the sizes.
- Then, I started stitching them together. This part was a bit tricky, especially with the tiny details like the face and the limbs.
- I used a small, sharp needle and some strong thread, and I took my time.
After a few hours, it started to look like a bag! I even managed to add a little turn-lock thingy for the nose, just like the real one. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit fiddly, but I got there in the end.
Once I finished all the sewing, I added some finishing touches. I conditioned the leather to make it look nice and shiny. And I even found a tiny, little strap to use as a handle. It’s not exactly like the real Hermes Kelly Doll, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s my own little version, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg!
It’s so lovely!
Now I have this cute little bag that I can use to keep my trinkets. And every time I look at it, I remember the fun I had making it. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s what matters. Plus, I learned a lot about working with leather, which is pretty cool. Maybe I’ll try making other bags in the future. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start a collection of my own handmade mini bags!
