So folks, grabbed my new Jordan 16s today after they finally showed up. Box looked a bit beat up, but whatever, just excited to get ’em on my feet. Let me walk you through how it went down.

The Unboxing & First Feel

Ripped the tape off the shoebox real quick. Shoes were packed tight, smelled like fresh glue and leather – that new shoe smell, you know? Pulled the right one out first. Felt kinda heavy compared to my usual runners. Materials looked nice though, that patent leather piece shiny on the side. Held it by the heel counter, felt sturdy.

Laced ’em up tight right out the box. No time for sitting around! Instantly felt the stiff collar around my ankle. Thought to myself, “Man, these gonna need some break-in.” Stepped down onto the carpet, wiggled my toes. Toe box seemed alright, not too cramped. Stood up, took a few slow steps inside the room.

First Steps Outside

Took ’em out for a quick errand run right then. Walking down the driveway felt weird at first:

  • The sole felt thick and stiff, didn’t bend much with my foot.
  • That ankle collar? Yep, definitely rubbing a bit, especially when stepping off curbs.
  • Started to feel a little heat building up inside after maybe 10 minutes of walking. Plastic pieces aren’t breathin’ great.

Heard that faint “squeak-squeak” near the shank plate on the right foot. Guess that new tooling needs wearin’ in too. Felt kinda clunky going down stairs, gotta be honest. Heavy is the word.

The Break-In Starts

Pushed myself to keep ’em on for a couple hours, drove over to the mall, did some browsing. Needed to see how they felt with more time. Sitting down for coffee? Finally got some relief from the collar rubbing. Stood back up after 20 minutes – ankles felt much better! Started gettin’ used to the weight too. Walking became less awkward. Biggest surprise? The cushioning! Started feelin’ that nice bounce in the heel after pounding the tile floors for a while. Way plusher than I expected for an older model.

Did a quick look in a store mirror. From the side? Damn, the shape looks dope. That little scoop near the heel and the chunky midsole – real head-turner. That patent leather catches the light just right. Tried shifting side to side near a clothing rack – traction on the tile was decent, didn’t slip at all.

Final Thoughts After Wear

Took ’em off back home. Checked my feet:

  • No blisters! Big win.
  • Top of my pinky toe felt a little pressure on the left foot, but not bad.
  • Heel felt fine, no rubbing there after all.

So yeah, definitely a shoe that needs patience. Stiff at first? For sure. A little heavy? Yep. Takes time to mold to your feet? Oh yeah. But man, that cushion gets better as you move, the support feels solid once broken in a touch, and the looks? Pure fire. Gonna keep wearin’ ’em steadily, see how they loosen up over the next week. Bet they get real comfy soon. How they gonna hold up? Only time will tell, but happy with the start.
