Then I stumbled upon this Casio AE-1200WHD, nicknamed the “Casio Royale.” It’s not the exact watch from the movie, but man, it’s got that same vibe. It’s got that cool, retro-digital look, and it reminded me immediately of the Seiko that James Bond wore in “Octopussy”. It was worn by Roger Moore in the 1983. I guess that’s why people started calling it the Casio Royale.
So, I started digging around. First, I hit up the usual spots – you know, the big online marketplaces. I saw a bunch of listings for the Casio Royale, some used, some new, with prices all over the place. I even checked out some of those auction sites and was shocked to see what they were charging for this watch. It looks great, but I do not want to pay a fortune for it! I mean, I found some vintage Bond watches for thousands of dollars! Insane.
I decided to get smart about it. I made a list of all the places selling the AE-1200WHD, noting down the prices, whether they were new or used, and any shipping costs. It took a bit of time, but it gave me a good overview of the market.
After comparing all my options, I found a decent deal on a brand-new Casio Royale. I was not interested in buying a used watch, to be honest, so I just went for the brand new one. And I’ve got to tell you, waiting for it to arrive was brutal! I was like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
Finally, the package arrived. I ripped that box open and there it was, my very own Casio Royale. I strapped it on, and it felt great. It’s got a world time function, an illuminator, and a bunch of other cool features. I am so happy with this purchase.
But here’s the best part: it looks the part. It might not be a genuine movie prop, but when I wear it, I feel a little bit like 007. Now, every time I check the time, I get a little reminder of those classic Bond movies and that is great.
