Okay, so I bumped into this “ibm watch” thing today and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I’ve messed around with smartwatches before, but this one seemed… different. So, here’s how it went down, from start to finish, all my screw-ups included.

Unboxing and Setup

First things first, getting this thing out of the box. It was packaged pretty nicely, I gotta admit. Inside, there was the watch itself, a charging cable (thank goodness, no weird proprietary stuff), and a tiny little booklet that I almost threw away.

Pro Tip: Don’t toss that booklet! It actually has some useful info, unlike most of those things.

I strapped the watch on, and it felt pretty comfy. Not too bulky, not too flimsy. Then came the fun part – turning it on. I held down the button on the side, and boom, the screen lit up.

Pairing with My Phone (The Struggle Was Real)

Now, this is where I hit my first snag. I’m usually pretty good with tech, but this pairing process was a bit of a pain. I downloaded the app they told me to, opened it up, and… nothing. It just wouldn’t find the watch. I tried turning Bluetooth on and off, restarting my phone, even waving the watch around like a crazy person (don’t judge, we’ve all been there).

Finally, after like 15 minutes of fiddling, I figured it out. Turns out, I had to go into my phone’s Bluetooth settings and manually connect to the watch first. Who knew? The app didn’t exactly make that clear. So, word to the wise: manual pairing might be your friend.

  • Download the app.
  • Try pairing through the app.
  • Go the Bluetooth setting and manually connecting.
  • If that fails, curse quietly and try again.

Exploring the Features

Once I got past the pairing drama, things got a lot smoother. I started poking around the different features. The watch face was customizable, which is always a plus. I spent a good 10 minutes just cycling through different designs.

Then I started checking out the fitness tracking stuff. It had all the usual suspects: step counting, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking. I haven’t taken it for a run yet, but I’m curious to see how accurate the GPS is.

The notifications were pretty straightforward. Texts, calls, emails – they all popped up on the watch screen without any issues. I even managed to reply to a text message using the voice-to-text feature, which worked surprisingly well. No more pulling out my phone every five seconds!

The Verdict (So Far)

Overall, my first day with the “ibm watch” has been… interesting. The setup was a bit of a headache, but once I got past that, it’s been pretty smooth sailing. I’m still getting the hang of all the features, but so far, I’m liking it. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely got potential. I’ll keep messing around with it and see how it holds up over time. Maybe I’ll even try that run I was talking about… eventually.
