Okay, so, I got this suede Coach bag, and it was looking a bit rough. I’m not gonna lie, I was scared to clean it myself, but I was like, “Let’s do this!”

First things first, I gathered all the stuff I thought I might need. I grabbed a soft-bristled brush, the kind you’d use on shoes, you know? Then, I found some suede cleaner – just a regular spray bottle, nothing fancy. I also got a clean, white cloth and some paper towels. I was all set to go!

I started by brushing the entire bag with the soft brush. I went in one direction, trying to get all the dust and loose dirt off. It actually made a difference, the bag looked a little better already. I paid extra attention to the areas that looked the dirtiest, like the bottom corners and the strap. I kept brushing until I didn’t see any more dirt coming off.

Then, I took the suede cleaner and sprayed it lightly over the whole bag. I didn’t soak it, just a light mist. It is kind of like watering the plants. I made sure to hold the bottle about six inches away. The bottle said to let it sit for a few minutes, so I just waited patiently.

After that, I used the clean cloth to gently blot the bag. I didn’t rub, just blotted. This was to lift any dirt that the cleaner had loosened up. I rinsed the cloth out a few times in clean water and kept blotting until the cloth came away clean. I switched to paper towels for the final blotting, just to get any excess moisture off.

Finally, I stuffed the bag with some clean paper towels to help it keep its shape while it dried. I left it in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat. That’s important, you don’t want to damage the suede. I waited overnight, just to be sure it was completely dry.

The next morning, I checked on the bag. It looked so much better! The suede was clean and the color looked more even. I was pretty proud of myself for tackling it myself. The color of the bag was as good as when I first bought it. I brushed it one last time with the soft brush to fluff up the nap, and it was good to go!

    Tools I used

  • soft-bristled brush
  • suede cleaner
  • clean cloth
  • paper towels

Honestly, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Just be gentle, take your time, and your suede bag will be looking fresh in no time!
