How to Become The Fashionist? Follow These Simple Steps

Okay, so today I’m gonna share my little adventure into creating a “fashionist” look. It was kinda spontaneous, but hey, that’s how the best things happen, right?

How to Become The Fashionist? Follow These Simple Steps

It all started when I was cleaning out my closet. Seriously, it was a disaster zone. I unearthed this old denim jacket I haven’t worn in like, forever. It was just sitting there, all sad and forgotten. And then BAM! Inspiration hit me. I thought, “Why not try to make this thing look…cool?”

First things first, I grabbed the jacket and laid it out on my bed. I started thinking about what I could do to jazz it up. I considered patches, but they seemed a bit overdone. Then I remembered I had some fabric paint lying around from a previous DIY project. Score!

I decided on a simple design: a few bold, geometric shapes on the back. Nothing too crazy, just something to give it a little pop. I sketched out a few ideas on paper first, just to get a feel for the placement and size. Then, using a pencil, I lightly drew the design onto the jacket.

Now for the fun part! I picked out a few colors of fabric paint – a bright red, a deep blue, and a sunny yellow. I carefully painted inside the lines of my design, trying my best to keep it neat. Let me tell you, fabric paint is not the most forgiving medium. There were definitely a few “oops” moments where I had to quickly wipe off mistakes before they dried.

While the paint was drying (which took FOREVER, by the way), I started thinking about the rest of the outfit. I knew I wanted something that would complement the jacket without being too matchy-matchy. I ended up going with a simple black t-shirt, some ripped jeans, and my trusty old Converse sneakers. Casual but cool, you know?

Once the jacket was completely dry, I tried it on. And honestly? I was pretty impressed! The painted design gave it a unique, edgy vibe. It was totally different from anything I’ve seen in stores. I felt like I had actually created something cool.

But I didn’t stop there! I figured the jacket needed a little something extra. So I rummaged through my jewelry box and found a few safety pins. I attached them to the collar of the jacket, just for a bit of punk rock flair.

Finally, the look was complete! I put everything on and took a selfie (obviously!). I even posted it on my Insta story, and surprisingly, I got a ton of compliments. People were actually asking me where I got the jacket! I told them I made it myself, and they were blown away.

The lesson here? Don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment with your clothes. You might just surprise yourself with what you can create. Plus, it’s a great way to give new life to old items in your closet. Who knows, maybe you’ll even become a “fashionist” yourself!
