How to be a Korean TikTok Star? Follow these tips now

Okay, so you wanna know about my little experiment with trying to replicate a “Korean TikTok Star” vibe? Buckle up, it was a ride!

How to be a Korean TikTok Star? Follow these tips now

Phase 1: The Deep Dive

  • First, I spent like a whole afternoon just scrolling through Korean TikTok. I’m talking hours, people. Observed the popular trends, the filters, the music… everything. Noted down common themes: lots of cute expressions, trendy dances, ASMR-ish food content, and perfect skin.
  • Then, I started analyzing the audio. Most use K-pop, of course, but also a bunch of trending sounds and short audio clips. I saved a bunch of these to my phone.

Phase 2: The Gear Up

  • Next up, the “look.” I donned my best attempt at Korean-inspired makeup. Emphasis on the dewy skin (which I definitely don’t naturally have, haha). Used a cushion foundation, concealer, brow pencil, the works.
  • Searched my closet for clothes that fit the vibe. Think oversized sweaters, cute t-shirts, maybe a tennis skirt? Ended up just grabbing a comfy hoodie and jeans. Practicality wins, I guess.
  • Lighting is key! I dragged my ring light into position and tested a few different angles.

Phase 3: Action Time (and a whole lot of bloopers)

  • Okay, now the fun (and embarrassing) part. I picked a few of the audio clips I’d saved and tried to mimic the popular TikTok trends.
  • Let me tell you, those cute expressions? Way harder than they look! I ended up looking more like a confused puppy than a TikTok star.
  • The dances? Don’t even get me started. I’m rhythmically challenged at the best of times. I attempted one of those K-pop dance snippets… let’s just say it was more “interpretive” than accurate. Deleted that one FAST.
  • I tried the ASMR food thing. I got some ramen, carefully arranged it, and tried to slurp it artfully into the microphone. Sounded more like a vacuum cleaner than a delicate noodle experience. Another deleted clip.

Phase 4: The Edit (and the realization)

  • After about an hour of filming (and deleting), I finally had a few clips that were… salvageable.
  • I threw them into TikTok’s editor, added some filters, text, and stickers. Tried to make it look as polished as possible.
  • And then… I watched it back. And realized… I am not a Korean TikTok star. Not even close.

Phase 5: The Takeaway

  • This whole experience was actually pretty fun, even though I totally failed at achieving my goal.
  • I gained a newfound respect for TikTok creators. It’s not just pointing a camera and dancing. There’s real effort and creativity involved.
  • More importantly, I realized that trying to be someone else is exhausting. I’m much happier just being my awkward, uncoordinated self.
  • So, no, I won’t be quitting my day job to become a Korean TikTok star. But I will continue to enjoy watching their content… from a safe distance!

The final video? I’m keeping it locked away in the drafts folder. Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to share it… maybe not! 😉
