Okay, so, I wanted to try something super festive this year – green Christmas nails! I’ve been seeing them all over, and I figured, why not? It’s not my usual color, but hey, ’tis the season, right?

First things first, I gathered my supplies. I had this really pretty, shimmery emerald green polish that I’d picked up ages ago and never used. Dug it out of my nail polish graveyard (we all have one, admit it!). I also grabbed a base coat, top coat, some nail art brushes (because I was feeling ambitious), and these tiny little gold star sequins that I thought would be cute.
Started with the basics: cleaning my nails, pushing back the cuticles (carefully!), and filing them into a nice almond shape. I always forget how much difference a good shape makes! Then, the base coat. Super important, don’t skip it! It protects your nails from staining and helps the polish last longer.
Okay, time for the green! The first coat was…streaky. Ugh. Green polish can be a pain sometimes. But I knew better than to panic. Let it dry completely (like, seriously completely) before going in with the second coat. Second coat went on much smoother. Phew!
Now, the fun part: the nail art! I decided to do a simple design on my ring fingers – a sort of Christmas tree shape using the gold star sequins. I used a tiny dotting tool to pick up the sequins and place them on my nail, starting with a big star at the bottom and then smaller ones going up in a triangle shape. It was fiddly, I won’t lie. My hands were shaking like crazy! But I managed to get them on there without too much trouble.
Then, top coat, top coat, top coat! I used a thick, gel-like top coat to really seal everything in and make the sequins stay put. I even did two layers of top coat on my ring fingers, just to be extra safe. Let them dry completely! Seriously, go watch a movie or something. Don’t even THINK about touching anything for at least an hour.

And…done! Green Christmas nails achieved! They’re not perfect, but I’m actually really happy with how they turned out. They’re sparkly, festive, and just a little bit different. I might even add some little white dots to look like snow next time. We’ll see!
Lessons learned:
- Green polish needs two coats, minimum.
- Sequins are fiddly, but worth it.
- Top coat is your best friend.
Would I do it again? Definitely! Maybe next time I’ll try a different shade of green, or a more elaborate design. But for now, I’m rocking these green beauties and feeling very Christmassy!
