Green and Blue Air Max: Where to Buy and How to Style!

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to customize my sneakers for a while, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I had this pair of plain white Air Maxes that were just begging for a makeover. I’m a big fan of green and blue, so I thought, “Why not combine them?” That’s how this whole “air max green and blue” project started.

Planning and Gathering Supplies

First things first, I needed a plan. I scoured the internet for inspiration, looking at different color combinations and designs. I finally settled on a gradient effect, starting with a deep green at the heel and fading into a bright blue at the toe.

Next, I had to get my hands on the supplies. I went to a local craft store and picked up:

  • Angelus leather paint in green and blue.
  • A set of paintbrushes in various sizes.
  • Masking tape.
  • A deglazer to prep the leather.
  • A matte finisher to seal the paint.

Prepping the Shoes

I started by cleaning the shoes thoroughly with the deglazer. This is a super important step because it removes any factory finish and helps the paint adhere better. It was kinda smelly, though, so I made sure to do it in a well-ventilated area.

After that, I taped off the areas I didn’t want to paint, like the soles and the Air Max logo. This part was a little tedious, but I took my time to make sure the lines were crisp and clean.

Painting!

Now for the fun part! I started with the green, applying thin, even coats to the heel area.I have to say, that was not easy at all.

Then used a clean brush to blend the green, and paint the blue to blend it to the toe area.

The key here is to work in thin layers and let each layer dry completely before applying the next. It took a few coats to get the color nice and vibrant.

I repeated this process, gradually blending the green into the blue as I moved towards the front of the shoe. It took some patience and a bit of trial and error, but I finally achieved the gradient effect I was going for!

Finishing Touches

Once the paint was completely dry (I waited a full 24 hours just to be safe), I applied a couple of coats of matte finisher. This helps protect the paint and gives the shoes a nice, professional look. I let that dry overnight, and voila! My custom “air max green and blue” sneakers were ready to wear!

Honestly, I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Plus, now I have a unique pair of kicks that nobody else has. It’s not very perfect, but that is my own design.
