Okay, so, I saw this “Barbie perfume” thing trending, and I had to try it. You know, for science… and because, well, Barbie! I figured, why not make a whole afternoon of documenting my little adventure?

Getting Started

First things first, I needed, like, a plan. A blind run wasn’t an option.

My initial approach was simple. Think pink, think girly, think… what would Barbie actually smell like?

I pulled out all my perfumes that seemed even remotely Barbie-ish. This included anything:

  • Pink: Obviously.
  • Sweet: Like candy or fruit.
  • Floral: But not, like, grandma’s old-lady florals. Something fresh and fun.

My collection is, ahem, extensive, so this took a while. I ended up with, like, ten contenders. Too many!

The Narrowing Down

Time for some serious sniffing. I sprayed each perfume on a separate piece of paper (important, or else they all blend together, and you’re just smelling “perfume,” not the perfume).

I eliminated anything too musky, too spicy, or too… grown-up. Barbie is all about youthful energy, right?

After a second round of sniffing (and a coffee break to clear my nose – pro tip!), I was down to three finalists:

  • One was a super-sweet, almost bubblegum-y scent.
  • Another was a light, airy floral with a hint of vanilla.
  • The last was more of a fruity-floral, with a bit of a citrus kick.

The Blend and the Reveal

This is where it got tricky. I decided to try a combination. I figured the super-sweet one needed something to balance it out.

So, very carefully, I sprayed a tiny bit of the sweet one and a bit more of the fruity-floral onto a new piece of paper. I waved it around (like they do in the fancy perfume stores) and took a sniff.

Okay, not bad! It was definitely sweet, but the fruity notes kept it from being overwhelming. It was fun, flirty, and, dare I say, a little bit… Barbie?

Final Thoughts

Would I wear this every day? Maybe not. But it was a super fun experiment! And it definitely captured that Barbie vibe I was going for. I felt like I’d created something unique, even if it was just mixing existing perfumes.

Honestly, the whole process was a blast. It was like playing dress-up, but with scents. If you’re bored and have a bunch of perfumes lying around, I totally recommend giving this a try. You might surprise yourself with what you come up with!
