Okay, so I wanted to share a bit about a trip I took, specifically about staying at Casa Kimball in the Dominican Republic. It wasn’t some random decision; we were actually looking for a place for a proper group getaway, somewhere to really unwind with family and friends.
I started digging around online, searching for villas in the Caribbean. Needed something big enough for all of us, private, and ideally with a great view. Finding and Booking the Place

Getting There and First Thoughts
The journey there was part of the experience, flying into the DR and then the drive to the Cabrera area. It’s a bit off the beaten path, which was part of the appeal. When we finally arrived and walked through the entrance, it was pretty impressive. The place is very open, lots of concrete and clean lines, but the immediate focus is that view over the cliffs and the ocean. And that pool, man, it looks even better in person. Just stretches right out towards the horizon. Everyone kind of just stood there for a minute taking it in.
We got settled into the rooms, which were all spacious and comfortable. The whole place feels very connected to the outdoors because it’s so open.
Living the Life at the Villa
Our days there fell into a nice rhythm. Here’s what we mostly did:
- Woke up, grabbed some amazing Dominican coffee, and just sat looking out at the water.
- Spent a LOT of time in or around the pool. It’s the centerpiece for a reason.
- The staff there were fantastic. They handled all the cooking, cleaning, everything. We basically didn’t have to lift a finger. The food was consistently great – lots of fresh, local stuff.
- We explored the grounds a bit, walked down near the cliffs (carefully!).
- Evenings were usually spent having dinner together on the terrace, watching the sunset, just talking and enjoying the breeze.
It wasn’t about frantic activity; it was about slowing down. We had everything we needed right there. The privacy was amazing. Felt like our own little world for a week.
What Stuck With Me
The most memorable part? Probably just the feeling of peace. Sitting by the pool edge in the late afternoon, sun starting to dip, hearing the waves crash below. That quiet, shared time with people I care about. The amazing meals prepared for us were also a huge highlight – felt totally spoiled.
So yeah, that was my experience with Casa Kimball. It was a significant trip, definitely a splurge, but for a big group wanting something truly special and private, it delivered. Felt recharged leaving there, full of good food and good memories. A solid spot if you’re looking for that kind of escape.
