Alright, so I’ve been seeing Wednesday Addams everywhere, right? And Jenna Ortega just nails that look. The hair, man, it’s simple but so iconic. So, I thought to myself, “How hard can it be? I should give that a shot.” Just for kicks, you know, to see if I could actually pull it off.
Getting Started With The Wednesday Vibe
First things first, I pulled up a bunch of pictures. You gotta have good reference, that’s what I always say. Her hair is basically those two long, dark braids and that killer fringe. My hair’s dark, not as long as hers, but I figured I could make it work. I didn’t go out and buy anything special. Just used what I had lying around. So, I grabbed:
- A good comb, the one with the pointy end for parting.
- Some sturdy hair elastics. The thin black ones.
- A few bobby pins, just in case.
- My regular hairspray.
I washed my hair the day before, ’cause I find my hair holds a style a bit better when it’s not super squeaky clean. Plus, less frizz to fight with, or so I hoped.
The Braiding Battle
Okay, the parting. This sounds easy, but getting that dead-center, super straight part? Man, that took a few tries. My arm was getting tired holding the mirror and the comb. I kept going a bit wonky. Finally got something that looked reasonably symmetrical. Good enough for a first attempt, I figured.
Then, the braids. I divided each side into three sections and started braiding. Tried to keep them tight and sleek, like hers. My hair has a bit of wave to it naturally, so getting them perfectly smooth was a challenge. And keeping the tension even all the way down? My fingers were cramping up a bit. One braid ended up looking a little thicker than the other at first. Had to undo that one and try again. Patience, I told myself, patience.
I braided them all the way down, as far as my hair would go, and secured them with the elastics. I didn’t want them too fluffy, so I didn’t pull at the sections or anything. Just kept them plain and simple.
Tackling That Famous Fringe
Now, the fringe. This is where it gets really specific to her look. My bangs are a bit grown out, so I wasn’t going to cut them just for this experiment, no way. I tried to part them in the middle, kind of like she has those two distinct pieces framing her face. I used a tiny bit of hairspray on my comb to try and get them to lay flat and stay put. It sort of worked. They weren’t as blunt or as full as hers, obviously, but I got the general idea across. It’s tricky when you’re not working with a wig, you know? You gotta adapt to what your own hair does.
The Grand Reveal (To Myself)
So, after all that fiddling, I took a good look. It wasn’t a perfect replica, not by a long shot. But, hey, it was definitely recognizable as an attempt at the Wednesday hairstyle! The braids were there, the center part was there, and the fringe was doing its best. My hair isn’t quite as dark or as straight as Jenna Ortega’s, so that makes a difference too.
What I learned? Well, it’s not as effortless as it looks on screen. Even simple styles take a bit of work to get right, especially the parting. And my arms definitely got a workout. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was kinda fun, actually. Made me feel a bit gloomy and mysterious, which was the whole point, I guess. It’s funny how a hairstyle can change your whole vibe. I didn’t go full goth with the makeup or anything, just wanted to see about the hair. For a home job, not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Now I just need a moody stare to go with it.
