So, the other day, I decided to get my hands dirty with some art stuff – just for kicks, really. I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz around Tyler, the Creator, and his Golf Wang brand, and it got me thinking, “Why not try drawing some of that?” It’s not like I’m an artist or anything, but I figured it would be a fun little project.
First off, I grabbed my old sketchbook and a bunch of pencils – you know, the usual stuff you’d find in a basic drawing kit. I wasn’t planning on anything fancy, just some doodles inspired by Tyler’s style. I started by looking up some images of his Golf Wang stuff, like the Golf le Fleur sneakers and some of his album covers. Man, that guy’s got a wild imagination! His use of colors and shapes is something else.
I began sketching some basic shapes, trying to mimic the bold and colorful style that Tyler is known for. I drew a few flowers, inspired by the Golf le Fleur designs, and then tried my hand at a couple of portraits. Let me tell you, drawing faces is tough! I spent a good hour just trying to get the eyes right. It’s way harder than it looks. During the drawing, I played some of Tyler’s music, trying to get into his vibe. It was interesting to see how his music evolved from those early, raw tracks to his more recent, experimental stuff.

After a few hours, I had a page full of random drawings. Some were okay, others… well, let’s just say they were a bit of a mess. But hey, it was all about having fun, right? I even tried to draw that iconic Golf Wang logo – the one with the cat. It turned out a bit wonky, but it was recognizable, I guess.
Getting a Bit More Serious
I got a bit more into it than I expected. I started experimenting with colors, using some old markers I found lying around. I added some bright yellows and pinks to the flower drawings, and I even attempted to recreate the vibrant color scheme from one of Tyler’s album covers. It was a lot of trial and error, and I definitely made a few mistakes along the way. But, you know, that’s part of the process. And, it’s just a hobby, so no pressure.
By the end of the day, I had a decent collection of drawings. They weren’t perfect, but they captured a bit of Tyler’s unique style. I showed them to a couple of friends, and they got a good laugh out of it. One of them even suggested I should share them online, but I don’t know about that. It was just a fun little experiment, nothing serious. It is really interesting to do something that is totally out of your field. You will know that how hard it is to have an achievement. It is worth to have a try!
All in all, it was a fun day of drawing and just messing around with art. I might try it again sometime, maybe explore other artists’ styles. It’s a nice way to unwind and do something creative. Plus, it gives you a whole new appreciation for artists and the work they put in. If you are tried of your work, you can try it too. You don’t need to be professional, just for fun!
