Okay, so today’s little project was trying to make a pair of Converse look like cowboy boots. Sounds crazy, right? But I saw this trend online and thought, why not give it a shot? I’m always up for a fun DIY challenge.

First, I grabbed my old white Converse. You know, the ones that have seen better days? They were perfect for this. I figured if I messed up, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Then, I went online and looked at a bunch of pictures of cowboy boots. I wanted to get a good idea of the details, like the stitching and the patterns. There are so many different styles, but I decided to go for a classic look.

Materials

  • White Converse sneakers
  • Brown leather scraps (I found some at a local craft store)
  • Strong fabric glue
  • Scissors
  • A pencil
  • Some old denim

So, I started by cutting the leather into shapes that resembled the pieces on real cowboy boots. I drew the patterns on the leather with a pencil first, just to make sure I got them right. After cutting out all the pieces, I started gluing them onto the Converse. This part was a bit tricky because I had to make sure the leather laid flat against the canvas. I used a strong fabric glue and it seemed to work pretty well. I let it dry for a few hours to make sure it was completely set. The glue stank up the whole room, had to open all the windows.

I also decided to add some denim to give it a more rugged look. I cut some strips from an old pair of jeans and glued them around the ankle area of the sneakers. It was starting to look pretty cool, if I do say so myself. I realized that adding a little bit of fringe could also enhance the cowboy boot vibe. I cut some thin strips of leather and glued them along the sides. It took some time, but it was worth it.

After letting everything dry overnight, they were finally done! They definitely looked like a funky mix between Converse and cowboy boots. Not perfect, but hey, that’s part of the charm, right? I wore them around the house, and they felt surprisingly comfortable. I even paired them with a simple white dress, and it actually worked! I wouldn’t wear them every day, but they’re a fun addition to my wardrobe. I guess you can try it with a denim dress to make it even more cowboyish.

Overall, it was a fun little experiment. It’s not every day you turn your sneakers into cowboy boots! If you’re bored and looking for a little project, you should totally try this. Just make sure you have plenty of glue and a lot of patience. I think a pair of plain-colored Converse would work as well, maybe even better.
