Comparing Kate Somerville Hydrating Face Serum: See how it stacks up against other hydrating serums.

Okay, let’s talk about this Kate Somerville hydrating face serum I’ve been trying out. My skin gets pretty thirsty, especially when the weather changes, so I figured I’d give this one a shot.

Getting Started

So, I got the bottle. Pretty standard stuff, nothing too fancy, which is fine by me. It’s got a pump, which I usually prefer, makes it easier to get the right amount out without making a mess.

First time I pumped it out, I put a bit on the back of my hand, just to see. It felt quite light, not thick or sticky like some serums can be. Didn’t notice much of a smell either, which is a plus for me. I don’t like strong scents in my face stuff.

Using It Daily

I decided to work it into my evening routine first. After washing my face, while it was still a little damp, I’d use about one pump, maybe one and a half, for my whole face and neck. It spread really easily, felt kind of watery but in a good way? Like it was sinking in fast.

It didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or tacky afterwards. That’s a big deal for me. I hate feeling like I have a layer of something just sitting on top of my skin. This stuff seemed to disappear pretty quickly, leaving my skin feeling smooth.

After a few nights, I started using it in the morning too, before my moisturizer and sunscreen. Same thing – absorbed fast, didn’t mess with makeup application over the top. Seemed straightforward enough.

What I Noticed

After using it consistently, maybe for about two weeks, I did feel like my skin wasn’t quite as tight or dry feeling, especially by the end of the day. It wasn’t some miracle overnight change, you know? More like a gradual thing.

Here’s the breakdown of what I found:

  • It definitely felt hydrating right after putting it on. Skin felt softer.
  • Absorbed quickly, no sticky feeling left behind.
  • Played nice with my other skincare products and makeup.
  • Over time, my skin seemed less prone to that midday dryness.
  • No irritation or breakouts, which is always good news.

So yeah, that’s my experience with it. It felt like a simple, basic hydrating serum. It did what it said it would do, hydrated my skin without any fuss. Didn’t blow my mind, but it was reliable. Just a straightforward part of the routine now.
