Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a G-Shock GMW-B5000 for a while now. I finally decided to pull the trigger and, man, it’s been an interesting ride figuring this thing out.

First, I ordered the watch. I went with the classic silver one, the GMW-B5000D-1. After a few days of anxiously waiting, it finally arrived!
Unboxing and First Impressions
The unboxing experience was pretty cool. It comes in a nice, sturdy box, and the watch itself is just…wow. It’s got that hefty, solid feel that you expect from a G-Shock, but with a refined, almost luxurious look because of the all-metal construction.
Setting It Up
Now, this is where things got a little tricky. I’m not the most tech-savvy person, so I struggled a bit with the initial setup. The instructions were okay, but connecting it to my phone via Bluetooth took a few tries. I had to:
- Download the G-Shock Connected app.
- Turn on Bluetooth on my Phone.
- Press and hold a bunch of buttons on the watch (in the correct squency) to get it into pairing mode.
Finally, after a bit of fiddling, I managed to pair it. Success!
Exploring the Features
Once I got it connected, I started playing around with the features.

I set the world time, so I could easily see what time it is in different cities.
I also customized the display to show the date and day of the week. And, I even tried out timer and *’s pretty neat to have all these functions on your wrist.
Wearing It Daily
I’ve been wearing the GMW-B5000 every day since I got it. It’s surprisingly comfortable, even though it’s a pretty substantial watch. I love the look of it – it goes with everything from jeans and a t-shirt to a slightly more dressed-up outfit.
I also love auto light features. I found it so useful when I was doing something outside in the dark.

And of course, it’s tough as nails. I’ve already bumped it into a few things, and it doesn’t have a scratch on it. That’s the G-Shock reputation for you!
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m super happy with my GMW-B5000. It was a bit of a learning curve to get it all set up, but now that I’ve got the hang of it, it’s become my go-to watch. It’s stylish, functional, and built to last. What more could you ask for?
